Default Package Handlers Home-Based Scam
Hi,

I usually delete these things but it grabbed my attention due to some of the words used in the ad in addition to the question raised, "Why wouldn't you just mail the packages to the final destination yourself?" I hope no one answers this one...it's a scam. (I have bolded those words which we all know are not typically used for business or in proper english for that matter.) Stable as a rock?

Janine

I laughed my way through reading that because it's so ridiculous. Not only does it beg the "why don't you just ship it yourself?" question, but I also wondered "umm, what exactly are you shipping?"

There was a story on our local news about a year ago about a woman who got caught up in a scam like this. It turned out she was receiving and shipping packages for the Russian mafia, and was even investigated by the FBI.

I hope that no one falls for this one, but unfortunately, especially with the economy the way it is, I'm afraid that someone will.

I would have stopped reading after the first paragraph due to the grammar. It amazes me how people come up with these things and amazes me more that people take the bait.

I just worked on a blog about the 419 Nigerian scammers. I referenced a terrific Washington Post article about the 'who' behind these letters.

It seems that recipients are lonely for love and still wishing for that too-good-to-be-true real estate deal. I wasn't surprised to learn that a scammer could easily earn $30k in a month. Now they are working harder because there is less disposable income on the other end of the world they are reaching.

People are more vulnerable now having lost their jobs. I believe that some folks lose their common sense as emotions are high and money is tight.

These scams have infiltrated nearly every type of business and we are seeing more and more of them in the virtual assistant or virtual opportunity sections in classified ads.

As email is so 'cheap' to send and for the millions of messages sent, the scammers only need a few people to respond, so scamming is still a profitable business.

I have received many e-mails similar to this one. I am sure they are scams. That was my first question , too. Why would they not ship something themselves. They are ridiculous in thinking people will fall for this, however when people are unemployed sometimes they try anything to get a job, and these scammers know that.
