Default Miller Brew, LLC : Abraham Milovak
I received the email below a couple of weeks ago from the above-mentioned company representative.

The email itself is very concerning but as an HR professional I am very concerned about partnering with any company whose Recruiting Officer isn’t aware of EEO Laws in the US, doesn't at least want to schedule some sort of interview or consultation session, doesn't list any contact information, and doesn't require an employee agreement.

Lastly, my initial response was that I was not interested in the AP Clerk role as I originally applied for a Virtual Secretary role. This person obviously did not read the email carefully; which we all do sometimes but when you tie all this together it makes me suspicious.

I googled the company and did not find any information; I didn't take the research any further than this.

Subject: AP CLERK POSITION AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE CONSIDERATION
From: virtualjobsmb@ourletters.net
To: gkh-bilingual-phr@live.com

Hello Gisel.

How are you doing today and how is the weather over there like? I understand that you do not have any experience to qualify for the Virtual Online Secretary Assistant Position and I will also like to make you understand that the position is already filled and no longer available. However, I am sending this e-mail in regards of the open position available for immediate consideration. An AP Clerk is needed to complete a part of the Payroll task which we presently do for existing clients and the future ones.

Final submission/presentation of every client's payroll check run will be handled by us and will only need you to print and package/mail out payroll to enhance efficiency in the delivery of our duties.

Your basic task will be to print package/mail out check runs which is expected to be done from your home/office and the processes are as stated below:

1. You will have checks and shipping labels printed.
2. You will have each printed check matched with their corresponding shipping labels, packaged and dropped off at FedEx / UPS courier pick up locations. You will need to get UPS and FedEx letter envelopes and airway bills from their respective drop off locations for FREE which will be used in packaging and mailing. You are NOT in anyway to in cure the cost of shipment.

*You will be expected to meet up with daily courier pick up time.

You are expected to own a good color printer and acquire a Blue VersaCheck Form 1000 - 250 checks per box for only $27.99 and a Bank regulated MICR ink that is compatible with your color printer.

You will be working for an average of 10hrs weekly at $25/hr and this Project will go on for 12 months or more and will earn you $1,000.00 USD monthly. *Extra Bonus includes % earned from processed refunds {up to $800.00 USD monthly}

The sad thing is how many people DO fall for this stuff! Thanks for the heads-up about another slime ball trying to take advantage of VAs.

Hello Gisel.

How are you doing today and how is the weather over there like? I understand that you do not have any experience to qualify for the Virtual Online Secretary Assistant Position and I will also like to make you understand that the position is already filled and no longer available. (bait and switch) However, I am sending this e-mail in regards of the open position available for immediate consideration. An AP Clerk is needed to complete a part of the Payroll task which we presently do for existing clients and the future ones. (poor grammar, similar to that of non-English speakers)

Final submission/presentation of every client's payroll check run will be handled by us and will only need you to print and package/mail out payroll to enhance efficiency in the delivery of our duties. (totally illogical process)

(references to mailing raises suspicions, in light of recent overseas scams, particularly from Africa, where unsuspecting people will eventually put up a lot of their own money and will lose it all)

*You will be expected to meet up with daily courier pick up time.

You are expected to own a good color printer and acquire a Blue VersaCheck Form 1000 - 250 checks per box for only $27.99 and a Bank regulated MICR ink that is compatible with your color printer. (you will be printing bogus checks and mailing them to the scam artists)

You will be working for an average of 10hrs weekly at $25/hr and this Project will go on for 12 months or more and will earn you $1,000.00 USD monthly. *Extra Bonus includes % earned from processed refunds {up to $800.00 USD monthly} (from what source are the refunds?)

Peppy, I just came across your 'diagram of a scam' here and wanted to say how much I liked it You could probably build a whole blog around exposing these emails and breaking it down. Nice work!
