Default Is this email a scam?
I received this email after applying to a position I am not sure is a scam or not.

I received your message and it's good to know you have experience in quick book. You will be required to apply your skills on the Designing and accurate printing of payroll check of registered clients.

The processes are as stated below:
1. You will be sent an pre designed check.
2. You will be expected to re design it using the Versacheck software from your PC.
3. After it has been properly designed like the copy sent to you,It will be inspected.{scanned copy}
4. List of contacts will be sent to you.
5. You will have each designed check enveloped and mailed via Courier postal service. You will need to get UPS and FedEx letter envelopes and airway bills from their respective offices for FREE which will be used in packaging and mailing.{You will be Provided with the shipment UPS and FedEx Account number}. You are NOT in anyway to in cure the cost of shipment.
6. Invoice of all Checks will be filed {this will be requested at the end of each month for audit purpose}.

Like i stated on my posting, you will be required to have the Verscheck software and if you don't have this, you will need to acquire {Instant Checks Solution Suite for $89.99} at G7PS. The {Instant Checks Solution Suite for $89.99} comes with a compatible printer, VersaInk-nano™ magnetic ink and 500 Pieces of blue colored Prestige (Form 1000) Voucher (check on top, 2 stubs below). as stated on http://www.g7ps.com/scripts/instantcheckssolution.asp.

This Project will go on for a year or more and is estimated to earn you a minimum of $200.00 USD weekly. {$400 paid bi weekly via wire transfer}.
You are also entitled to a 25% bi weekly salary increase every 3 months.

So I added this Bill guy to my messenger and asked if when using Quickbooks online to access these clients on the list, when I print a check it will have an electronic signature right? And he said yes. All the information is in the Quickbooks I am simply printing and mailing the checks. He said he worked for J&B Accounting sub division of Kyte Group in the UK. So I found a Kyte Group in the UK and sent them an email to confirm if they had heard of this company or man. I am waiting on a response. In the meantime any thoughts from anyone here?

Thanks

I would be leary of any job that required me to print checks and Fedex them. I am a bookkeeper and I don't print checks for any of my clients. I do however, set-up checks for them to print via remote access, but then the clients prints them on their end.

Handling actual funds for a client is a big liability.

Your email sounds very scammy. I would delete it and move on.

My policy is not to buy software that is exclusive to one particular client. If they want me to use a piece of software for their work, they need to buy the software or a license for me to use. I supply software that is generic to my business overall. So the fact that he wanted you to '...acquire {Instant Checks Solution Suite for $89.99} at G7PS. The {Instant Checks Solution Suite for $89.99}' is a red flag (to me) that they might be selling software or that this is a scam.

I'd move on as Rebecka mentioned above.

VersaCheck is a commonly used software for bookkeepers (those that print checks for their clients) or companies that have a large volume of checks, because they can print the bank coding on the the check themselves rather than buying printed check stock which is really expensive.

However, I would be leary of doing this for anyone online without doing a lot of verification because I would want proof that the account information they are giving me to create checks with is actually their account, especially, if they are out of the country. There are just too many scams out there and you don't want to find out you were creating forged checks and FedExing them around the globe.

This smells like a scam to me too.

Also, as stated in one of the posts, if I need a specific software that I will not be using with another client, either that new client purchases it for me or I make the determination if the contract is worth the investment. Sometimes it is. Other times, not so much.

Definately check into this further before going forward. Google the company's name, phone number, etc. to see what you find.

One of the biggest indications of a scam, IMO, is that they are offering to pay waaaay more than the job is worth. I would run from this as quickly as possible.
