Default Credit Report
Hey everyone, I am getting several emails about potentional job offers, but I am very leary of them. They are asking me to go to various web sites and obtain my credit score then send them copies of my credit report???? Is this normal? At this point, I have not clicked on any of the links because I am really uncertain as to what that link holds for me, however, I don't want to just delete a potentional job either??? Please give your feedback. I have responded to a few and asked more questions about the companies info and not getting any responses that I think "sound" right... Should I just trust my instincts and steer clear or follow through on what they are asking and take a chance.... Your guidence is greatly appreciated... Thanks...

Yikes -- I have no expertise in this, but my instincts would be to stay away from anything that asks you for such detailed info such as your credit score. What's that all about? As I said, I do not have a lot of knowledge on what is being sent to you. I would tend to agree with your gut feeling -- something's not right and don't pursue or give any additional information about yourself. There are so many other non-threatening ways to find clients. Unfortunately, there are tons of scam artists out there preying on people who are honestly looking to make a living. It makes my blood boil, and so that I don't get overly emotional, I will not comment any further . . .

I agree - I have never been asked for a credit report, that's really out of left field!

Have you been able to do any research on the companies via Google search - my guess is you'll turn up something that will let you know either way.

My guess is you either have to pay for the credit report (a money-making scheme on their part) or it's a way to steal your info. Either way, you're smart not to click or pursue these 'opportunities'.

I would stay away from that as well. No one should be given your social security number in any case, which shows up on the credit report.
Sounds like a scam to me! Where do you advertise, are you on Craigslist by any chance?
Go with your gut instinct, it is usually right.

Sounds fishy to me. You can check with the BBB to see if any complaints came in about them. Don''t send!

That happened to me on CL a while back. I reponded to an ad for admin assist and they wanted me to purchase a credit report. I reported it to CL.
So many scams out there!

I have recently been on craigslist looking for employment and found the "send me your credit report" information before we can complete the application process. Red flags went up and I did not click on the link.
I was just on a VA website that is suppose to have legit VA jobs to apply for and was surprised that they asked for a credit score report.
What do you think of the website VOT?
I tried searching through the forum but did not see any topics on VOT.

Thanks,
Tamera

Do not do this. A virtual worker's credit report is not needed. A corporation such as a bank, etc., might ask your permission to order your credit and ask you to sign a form on the 2nd or 3rd interview. Key word: permission. Once you give up your credit report that person has a lot of your personal information.Beware!
