My hubby has just received an email "from paypal" which looks like a receipt for a bogus payment to a guy called Mark Wilson (though that might change) - if you get the same then DON'T CLICK ON THE CANCEL LINK - that's where the phishing bit is!!!

It has the usual giveaway of "dear Paypal member" rather than your real name, but other than that it looks pretty good - he's emailed it to paypal for them to investigate but please, please be careful - I don't want anyone getting caught out by this kind of stuff...

Thanks Sara, I don't use Paypal very much, so I'm glad I didn't get it...I might not have noticed little things like "Dear Paypal member" instead of my name!

Thanks for the head's up on the scam.

I never use a link from an email because of this reason. it was recently on our local news that our major bank (Citizens) was having this problem as well.

I hate those things! There are also the scams where "PayPal" sends you an alert about "fraudulent" activity in your account. That also goes to "Dear PayPal Member", if I remember correctly. Don't people have better things to do with their time!

Thanks Sara, It is always a good reminder to be careful of any unsolicited mail. We need to have our e-mail on our websites for current and potential clients but it puts us at risk for so many other things. Be careful everyone.

This is the second time on this board I've heard of Paypal scams. The first one, someone hacked into someone's account. I am starting to wonder if maybe I shouldn't have signed up.
