I've posted my business on Craig's list once a day for about three weeks. Received one genuine contact that did not pan out, the rest were scams. I've stopped posting there, but I might start again. Maybe through tons of fakes a genuine contact will show up again.

I think it's a lot better than it used to be since potential employers have to pay $25 to post jobs. What I don't like about Craigslist are the scammers that contact you when you post your resume/services! I'm tired of the emails that say, I can offer you this or that. I get too many of those types of emails!!

I responded to a job on craigslist...now all I keep getting are spam emails from someone seeming like they are responding to a job posting and wanting me to download their resume...you have to make sure you also dont post your phone number on craigslist or the spam phone calls will start flooding in

I have been searching CraigsList for potential clients, and haven't had much luck either, but I never thought of posting an ad for my VA services. I would love to hear from others who have done this and know what kind of results they've received. Thanks!

Hello Everyone!

I have posted my ad on craigslist as well, in the small biz ads and well as computer services section, and received dozens of spam from google jobs to video games. I also look in the jobs section and look for people looking to hire personal assistants, admin. assistants etc, and send them a letter telling them about my business, I have had a few bites from those letters.

I also joined a site called Merchant Circle ( www.merchantcircle.com) where you can network with your local businesses, it's sort of like the domino affect, someone searches for one company and if your linked with them they see you as well.

Just keep plugging away!

A year later and the scams continue....
I've responded to several jobs posted on craigslist.com and 2 have turned out to be scams which I was able to determine from their responding email.
I did get one call last week from a legitimate lister, so there are a few, very few out there!

Craigslist is an excellent source for a variety of things - including clients. I have bought/sold/rented to & gotten leads for a number of things. Of course there are scams/idiots etc - just a reflection of the real world. Good LUCK and hang in there!!

For years I have looked on Craigslist, and have not come across anything that was legit. I am very nervous to deal with anyone on Craiglists, because of the scams.

Is there something that may happen to stick out that shosw that they are legit ?

I'm not sure how to spot a fake on facebook. My friend and I had a similar conversation this afternoon regarding craigslist. Although, she has had two good leads I am still a little skeptical about it.
