Default Deleting appearance of WordPress Widgets
PLEASE HELP! I have added many new pages to WP site I'm building for a client. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to remove the defaults like "leave a reply" or 'posted by" and other blog-like references. I'm simply designing a website with no "blog" features at this time. I'm at my wits end; have tried support forums and tutorial, but I'm missing something. Please help. Thanks. - Eleanor

Depends on the theme but normally all you have to do is
1. pick "full-width" as the page template (will be in right sidebar on page edit screen) to completely hide the widgets.
OR
2. they may just be default widgets built in the theme so until you add your own widget (on widget screen), they will stay. Once you add your own, the default ones should go away.
OR
3. If it's an older theme, they may be hard-coded, in that case you'll need to remove them (or better- comment them out) in the functions.php file

Post back if you need help (or PM me and I'll check it out for you).

Like Christina said it depends on the theme. For newer themes there is usually a customizing option however that is not the case on all. I usually go into the guts of the theme and code it out. Which theme are you using?

Thaks Christina and Lee. It's the Responsive theme. The "full width" option worked for me. Thanks again. - Eleanor

If you go to "Pages" and hover your mouse over the page you want to edit then click "quick edit". When it open you deselect the box that says "allow comments". Save it then go to "edit' the page and at the bottom you can remove "sharing" options.

Hope that is what you meant.
