Default Blog using your existing business website?
Why have a blog created in wordpress, blogger, tumlr vs just adding a new button to your existing website page? Existing web page has keywords, titles, mega tags...

My answer is that possibly some people choose a blog when they don't have a website or a need for a website.

The reason I'm asking is that I updated my blog this weekend and created one for my husband's business, but now am questioning why when we both have websites. I love this 'banging the head on a brick wall...! I seem to be at that point so often these past two weeks.

My blog is on my website. Been so busy lately, that reminds me I must get back to posting!

You can actually create blogs on those sites you mentioned and have a link to redirect to your main site. It's all basically about SEO too. These blog sites can be crawled by search engines which in turn gets traffic and and could give you more leads. Just make sure you put in your keywords and good content too.

I encourage all of my clients to use a system that integrates it all, which is why I use WordPress for all my clients. This gives you bang for the buck, saves on maintaining two sites and helps a lot for your SEO.

I look at it as being efficient! LOL!

Once you build the site for your client, do you turn over the site's upkeep (newsletters, blog, updates) to your client, or do you continue to maintain?

^this depends on the client. But it'll be better if you get to maintain it of course.

My blog is apart of my webpage-- I use and recommend WordPress! You can post blogs from your phone through WP apps or email blogs posts to your WordPress site.

This is all great information! I'm at the point of completion with a simple business website that took several hours to setup. I now see the importance of blogging. I've read about WordPress and was wondering which of the 2 versions (.org or .com) would be practical for non-techie with minimum extra time? Also, will I need to purchase another domain name or hosting services?
