Default Yippeee! My Website is up!
Hi All

After 3 months of working on my website I am pleased to announce that it is up and running . I still want to tweak it a bit, but felt that as I am officially launching my business on 1 Aug 2011, I needed to get my website up.

Please have a look and give me any comments or suggestions you might have: www.virtuallythere.co.za

Thanks so much
Regards

I like it.

Its very South African! (I'm a SA'er in the UK).

I'd say the only thing is on the front page, it looks like there should be some more text or something, the blank space looks empty. And I did look for prices.

But other than that, its fantastic.

And Im jealous you get to look up at African Skies.

Good luck and let me know how it goes won't you?

Ursula

Hi Ursula

Thank you so much for taking a look and for your comments. So glad you like it I have removed some of the space on the home page, I had left the space originally as I was trying to add a couple of php links at the bottom, but I haven't figured out how to do that properly in Joomla! Will get there sometime!

It's amazing how many South Africans have relocated to the UK, a lot of my old school friends went over. Where about in SA are you from? Wow, tonight is the coldest night we've had so far this winter, it feels like England!

I will definitely keep you posted on my business, thanks for the well wishes, much appreciated!

Ann,

I'll be honest and this is just my personal opinion; it left me wanting more. I'm not sure if it's because of the dark color scheme or lack of content.

I don't mean to dampen your spirits because I know how much time and effort goes into building a website. I'm still not happy with mine and I think a lot of us continue to keep tweaking and improving them along the way. You have crossed the first major bridge. It's a good start.

Here are my other observations:
  • Entrepreneurs is missing the second "r" throughout the site.
  • I agree with Ursula on the spacing issue. It looks like something is missing.
  • On the Services page you are missing a closing parentheses.
  • No mention of how you charge for your services. You don't have to publish prices but potential clients might want to know more about your terms of business and how you would work with them.
  • The words "Contact" and "Contact Form" look odd so close together.
Again, please take this as constructive criticism.

Hi Linda

Thank you for your constructive criticism. My site is still a work in progress, and I think I still have a long way to go before I'm 100% satisfied, if anyone ever is with their own site?!

You picked up on some issues that no one else had noticed yet, thank you! I've fixed the typo's now. I have been considering adding something about rates, and you have convinced me now. As for the contact page... the first 'Contact' is a Joomla thing and I haven't figured out how to get rid of that yet!! I am however, planning on entering a contact number and skype address in there, so that should fix it.

Thanks again for your suggestions and for taking the time to look. I really appreciate it.
