Default Website reviews please? :-)
Hi.

I am just starting out and would really appreciate some feedback on my website. It is not completely finished but the most important stuff is there so I would really like some critiques!

I am not a copywriter so this is probably my weakest area. I never know how to word things so that they come across friendly but professional (I feel that sometimes my words are a bit too, I don't know, pompous? Predictable?)!

Any help, greatly appreciated. :-)

Thanks

Lynda

Wonderful website! I know it took a ton of work. I really like the folder concept on the front page and your logo.

Here is a suggestion (and only a suggestion!) for rewriting your "Saving Time" Section:
"Your valuable time can now be spent building your business while we take care of our essential admin tasks."

I always go with the popular concept of writing shorter paragraphs on websites so the visitor doesn't "have to think". Of course, this is purely a matter of personal style so I won't be offended if you don't use it!

Keep on working at it and good luck with your business!

Thanks for that. I agree, shorter is often better. I do have a tendency to ramble on a bit!

And thankyou for the positives too :-D

I think it looks GREAT! The navigation is user friendly, the information is quick and easy to read.

I am currently still working on getting started and the one thing that I am unsure about is the About Me page. As a consultant, I am not sure that the About Page portrays the professional image that I am shooting for or that it's even needed.

What do the more senior Va's think?

Aw, thankyou. :-) Yes, I am struggling with the about me page too. I really don't think I am 'selling' myself enough!

Lynda, I really like the colour scheme you have used on your site and your logo looks great. Just a couple of comments though:

1. I would perhaps reword the phrase, "We have and use our own equipment so need for extra office clutter that you just don't need". I mention it because you use the word "need" twice and it doesn't quite read right. I would also merge the following sentence with this one instead of starting with "And".

2. I found the social media buttons on the right a little too predominant on the page. I know you need them to be visible but they kind of distracted me when your home page opened.

3. You have put your phone number on your contact page but I couldn't see anywhere on the site anything to say where you are based. It looks like a UK mobile number but perhaps you could put the international code before it so people know how to reach you.

You're off to a great start. Websites are complicated and you'll want to tweak it every so often (or is that just me?!!).

Great Sabrina, thanks.
1. Will def change the phrase - now I have re-read it you are right.
2. Yes, the social media buttons are too big, now you mention it!
3. I am thinking about getting a 0845 number instead of using my mobile (don't want to use my home number as I want to answer 'Admin On Demand') as I think people may be put off calling a mobile number, so this is work in progress but yes, I definitely need to add something about my location.

Thanks again

Lynda

Glad to help, it does get complicated creating the perfect website and this feature is great to get some feedback. The 0845 number is a good idea and it looks professional too. I would add something about your location because it can get you additional local business as well as giving your international clients more info about you and your business. I really like what you've done so far so I'm sure the end result will be great too. Good luck!
