Here are my thoughts:
  • I like the colour scheme
  • The fonts on the various pages (sometimes on the same page) should be consistent, some are serif, some san-serif, some bold, some not, some italic, some not
  • Why Use Ideal Administrative Solution? on the home page looks like it should be a heading, I'd apply a H2 tag to it
  • there is a large gap between the two paragraphs that start with "In most cases ..." and "Ideal Administrative Solution is a ..."
  • On the home page, the list of types of people who use VAs would be better as a bulleted list
  • You should do a spell check - I'm seeing lots of spelling errors
  • I really wonder about VA websites with the ethics page - a friend of mine who is a real estate agent were talking about marketing this morning and she was saying that she wasn't going to put the words "professional" and "experienced" on her business cards - that should be a given. Same thing re the ethics page.
  • That bright pink background on the rate calculator is really hard on the eyes; I'd tone that down
  • I wouldn't put my fax number on the website; main reason being, do you really want that harvested and having your fax line ringing all night? If you use an efax service, do you really want to pay for junk faxes?

You're off to a good start.

Julia has given you some excellent advice, but I agree with doing a spell check and would also recommend checking the grammar on your site. Especially in light of your offering "Editing / Proofreading" services. I know it's not always easy to proof your own writing , so a copy and paste into Word might be of help in spotting where the problems are occurring.

Good luck and PM if you need more help!

Hi Kim-

You have been a busy bee, taking the time to do not one but two websites. My only question is why have 2 sites that are identical? I'm also concerned with your using free domain and hosting, do read through our previous reviews and see why we recommend getting both paid domains and hosting. They represent your business better and increases your credibility.

The header in the first website (ias.org) looks unfinished with the horizontal lines beside your image. There is also the issue of spelling errors, as mentioned by previous posters.

You have the picture of a graduate in the 2nd website, it doesn't match the business that you are representing. Find something more appropriate.

In the first website you have Home, next page About Us, and so forth as your page titles. In the second website IAS as your title on every page. Do visit the SEO section for information about getting your website ready for the search engines as per pages titles, keywords, descriptions and more.

I'm quite curious about the links to another VA website: VMA?

I am not sure if it is just my computer but in your heading there is a box to the left side of your name but there is no graphic/logo just a box. I do see the picture of the clouds and sky but thought you should know about the other.

Is there supposed to be white space to the left of the picture, it looks to me like it is off due to error. I have sensitive eyes so the colors were starting to hurt after a while.

I like the neutral colors of site 2 but I agree the graduation picture makes me think you are still in school or just graduated and not advertising a business.

Just to keep it clean and professional, I would remove the picture at the top of the home page and the search engine. They don't quite look like they fit. Other than that I think you are off to a fine start.
It looks like you have already received some great advice.

Hi, I much prefer the design of the second site. Better coloring and layout. As the advice above, I agree with the need for spell check and grammar check. As a VA people won't look twice if you have errors on your site. I also agree with the picture of the graduate, I didn't see how that fit in with the services you offer.

All the above advice is great and you really are off to a great start in getting your web presence organized.
