Default Virtual Desk Jockey Website
Well, time to bite the bullet and get some input from you guys on what you think of my site.

It isn't as fancy as some of the ones I've seen by the rest of you but I hope it doesn't come across as too bland.

Please let me know what you think!

OK, I'll be first, Love the name, you'll have fun with that. The only thing that I would not put on the web is my resume. It is not necessary to say where you worked and when but rather what you have experience in. Look at it as a total package of what you have to offer as a VA, that's your resume, you are a business, not an employee.

I just took a quick look but so far you are off to a really great start.

Cheers!!

Hi Suzanne,

I agree with Bernice, don't put your resume on your website. One doesn't usually ask a plumber for his resume when hiring one.

Your colors are beautiful as well as the logo. I would also take out the graphic that came with the template and add in one of your own. You can find some really great FREE and royalty free graphics on http://sxc.hu . If you need help uploading another graphic let me know and I'll be happy to help you.

All in All it looks really good!

Sincerely,
Deirdre Shockley

Thank you guys for the input, I guess I thought having my resume on there would give some credibility to the experiance I claim.

I do see your point however that I'm not an employee anymore.

Maybe I should condense it down to have more things like the Career Highlights section to give example of my work as opposed to a timeline of employment?

Hi Suzanne,

I have my experience in my About page I don't really have a "resume" type page. Maybe that would work for you.

Love the colours and the name.

Re the resume - instead do a bio which outlines your experience but doesn't read a resume. Bullet points are fine. I have one at http://kathiethomas.com/bio/. This way clients can still be impressed by your experience but not led to think of you as an employee - a mistake that many new VAs make. Shift your mindset to business owner and the bio will come easily.

Hi Suzanne,

Congrats on getting your site up! I love how you named your rate packages.

I agree with the others that I think it would advertise your skills better if you detail your skills on your About Me page. You've already gotten off to a great start but I'd suggest using the details that are in your resume to add some more meat to it.

Such as, when you talk about your experience climbing through the ranks at your analyst job, specifically which skills enabled you to succeed there? (Skills that also apply to being a VA?) Any specific accomplishments or projects that you did well?

On your Services page, I find your list easy to understand and skim - good job! I do have one suggestion there, which would be to put a brief introduction on your services page above your list. Visitors may not take the time to read your Home or About Me pages because they want to get straight to the details, so having a sentence or two that showcases your personality on that page would help to draw them in and convince them to contact you.

Congrats again, and I think it's great that you seek constructive criticism. (Don't hesitate to list that as one of your valuable skills, if you haven't already!)
