Default Site ready for review
Hi all,

Here is my site, it is ready for review.

It has been a labour of love, hate and endurance. I know there is alot more to add to it, like samples/portfolio, more information on my qualifications and testimonials. They are under construction at the moment.

I have done some SEO work on the site, but would like some comments on how I could improve on it.

Looking forward to viewing you responses.

Hi Vicky,
I had a quick look at your site and I think it's fantastic. The colors are pleasing and the layout is nice. I don't have enough time to proof read it all right now but will come back to it later today. Well done

I think your site is very well put together. I like the color scheme (not too bright) and it looks very professional. I did have a chance to view each page and all the links work and I didn't see any grammatical errors. Good job on your website and good luck to you.

Hi Vicky,

First let me applaud you for taking on the enormous task of developing and building the website yourself.

Overall it is looking very nice. In terms of SEO there are some things you can do to structure the site better.

1. use your targeted keyword phrases a few times in the copy on the page

2. place those keywords in the title tag. Ensure each page has its own unique title and don't use the same keywords on every page

3. Unless your clients will be searching for you using the initials CVAS do not put them in the title tag. They are a waste of valuable space. Remember you only have 65-70 characters in of title tag space before they get truncated. If you must use them then put them at the end of the title

4. Use your most prominent keyword as a header tag near the top of your page

5. Try to name each page's URL using the keyword phrases unique to the page. Don't make them too long.

6. Try and use your keywords as anchor text in your links if possible

7. When placing keywords in the title ensure you place the most important keyword at the beginning

I'll leave it at that for now. Please refer to the SEO section of this forum for more helpful tips.

Great job!!! The site looks great! I would recommend changing the What can a VA do for you to What you can do for the client. Give them a call to action. When a person comes to your site they come to find out what you have to offer and what you can do for them and makes you stand out from the rest.

Very good graphic choices!!!

Hi Vicky,

I really like the use of the color green in your website. I think I have a fondness for the color though. I also think the images you chose for each web page fit nicely.

Very nice job, I think you have done a really nice job.

Thank you all for taking time out to view and assess my website.

Shari: could you tell me what you mean about "keywords as anchor text in your links" i would appreciate an example if possible.

Also I do intend people to use C-VAS instead of the full business name, as it is quite long. Maybe I could use both in alternate page names that way both versions will be optimisable (if there is such a word).

I thought it was important that you use your keywords in the page title, and a business name is a very important keyword therefore I thought it was one of the best places to use it. I have titled the pages: home, about, services and so on, is this not the way to do it? I have read and spoken to so many people about SEO that maybe I am mixing things up in my head.

scarcasole: Thank you for your comments, I will change the wording and see what it looks like.

With regard to images, I thought that would be the fun part of doing a web site, but when it came to it, there was just soooo many images out there and so many of them had been used before that i spend days looking through galleries but I got them in the end.

Darlene, I also love the colour green and it has nothing to do with been Irish, I just think it is a very calm colour if a bit cold at time, but also a colour with so much life in it. I am using it a my branding colour. Nearly everything I have to do with my business has something green in it.

I know that this post is a little long, thank you for looking.

I have titled the pages: home, about, services and so on, is this not the way to do it? I have read and spoken to so many people about SEO that maybe I am mixing things up in my head.

Here is an example: On your home page you have a link called Contact Us. You might try calling the link "contact vicky o'connor" instead of contact us. That way one of your keywords is used in the link. (assuming that Vicky O'Connor is one of your keywords)

You don't really need to use your business name in the title unless your business name includes searchable keyword phrases or unless you plan on doing some heavy duty branding of your company name. Your actual company name Cuile Virtual Administration Services include actual searchable terms. Virtual Services is a decent keyword phrase and your site could benefit from having those words in the title. It won't hurt to put C-Vas in the title but not at the expense of leaving out more relevant keyword phrases.

You can call the pages About, Services etc. Just put them at the end of the tag if you must use them. Remember that importance is placed on the first keyword and then goes down the line. Do you really want your most important keyword to be "About"? No. You want it to be something more relevant.

Hope that helps.
