Default Revamped the website AGAIN...LOL
Okay guys,

I need your help again . I made some modifications to my website. Your feedback is very much appreciated, especially from those with browsers other than IE7.

I have a new color scheme, changed my banner, and added more details about my rates.

Thanks, I think I'll go to bed now

Toodles!

Hi Angela,

Don't worry about it, I didn't get many comments on my website either the second time around. No news is good news, right!

I have two comments. First, I would change the order of your menu bar (move services up after home). It just seems like that should be at first since most people will want to find out about your services before Questions & answers (actually, I would put that page right before contact us).
The second thing would be (this might just be my own opinion) to try to keep your fonts sizes consistent from one page to the other. The size of the fonts on “about us” seems much larger the other pages. Your “question & Answers” are much smaller etc. Not sure if it makes a difference but I just like consistency.

Good job!

Genevieve,

Thank you so much...I was beginning to think the worst . I went back through and made sure my fonts were consistent where needed and I moved my Q&A next to Contact Us.

Thank you for the feedback.

BTW, I think your site looks great.

Angela,

I just looked at your website and I think it looks very good. I agree with Genevieve about keeping font sizes consistent because that makes for easier flow. I actually like the Q & A section because I think that helps potential clients understand what it is that we actually do--and it appears to be tabbed in the correct space now.

Good luck!

I love the changes you made to your site Angela. I'm on IE7, but it really looks great. I can't wait to upgrade my website package so I can do more with mine. I'll be upgrading next month and really hope mine turns out half as well as yours has. Great job!

Aw...crickets, eh?

I like your color scheme. Nice.

In the <title>...</title> tags of your site I would put more than just what page they are on for SEO purposes. For example, your Home page title tag could have two or three of the services you offer with your business name following instead of just 'Home'.

I would ditch the repeating image that your mission statement is on. It just doesn't look right when it repeats. You could use a nice color there instead, or have someone redo the image so you don't have to repeat it horizontally.

For SEO and other reasons, tables aren't the best idea for layout, so maybe when you can, upgrade to a table-less layout using HTML and CSS.

All in all, nice looking site and easy to navigate. I'd say you done good, girl!

ETA: I use Firefox 3.5.7.

Hi

Great advice given already! Here's a few quick thoughts. I believe the first one you will already be working on, but I just wanted to mention it to hopefully help further.

When I landed on your site I loved the colors and themes, but I was overwhelmed with where to look. (Gotta remember here I'm old too so that's probably a lot of it!) I like how on your other pages you have the full page view. Also, I thought the big "focus on success" was something clickable. You might want to make that smaller and then click to a page that you have more information. Focus on success with a VA and then put in some of the things that you can do. Also, on the front page you might want to personalize it more. What exactly does your company do that would benefit your clients. You've done some that works, you just might want to do a little more.

On the about us page, it's two paragraphs before we get into you. The really could be just me, but when I go there I want to see right away about the person. I think if you change the paragraph formatting some, that might help.

Hope this helps! You'd done really good. A few tweaks and you could be there!

Thanks!

Hiya,
Mac Safari user calling!

I really like the colours of your site - maybe it's because I love the colour purple?!

I take it you're using a MS Office Live site (i started with one of those when I first started out!). It's a good starting block but once you've learnt some more HTML or you have extra funds to get a graphic designer to re-design your site, you can easily upload HTML files to your page via MS office live (as you use IE7 it's easier for you than it was for me on a mac as MS office live never works on macs!!

anyway, enough about the design, I'm going to give some constructive criticism to your pages:

Home - I'm not too sure about "mission" and "objective" as titles, in fact I think the "mission" section is a bit out of place at the top of your page!! Have a go at re-writing your front section - Say something like "ABC Company provides....." or, even better, have questions on your site, like "Do you keep running out of time in the day to do the basic Admin work that needs carrying out? Do you need extra help around round the office? Don't despair - ABC Company can help you!" - hopefully that will help you. You can move your mission section a bit further down your page.

About Us - I'm going to agree with Diana on where you have two paragraphs before we get to read about you. Now, there are two ways around it - you can leave it like that; or you can split the page into two (by creating a new page or sub-page) where we meet the team. However, "My goal as a virtual assistant...." should read "Her goal as a Virtual Assistant..." - as you were writing about the third person in all previous paragraphs, it reads better; and IMO it's best to write in the third person anyway!

A Virtual Investment - you should make the font the same size - I noticed that some fonts in the table were HUGE and I couldn't make sense of what it is!! Even though I like the two column effect, I'm not too sure on it as a web page. It's worth reviewing, however it won't make that huge an impact.

I really like the Services page - very different than having a basic list like other VA sites, yet we can still see what you do!

The Rates page is also a good page - nothing else needs to be done here, you've done the core bit!

Contact - content is good, but make the contact form BESIDE the picture - there's a gap and IMO it's looks odd!

Not too sure about the Project Request page - are you going to have a new page; and is it coming soon? If so, then just put "Page Under Construction" instead of "Place Content here" - it looks more professional. You could even have a roadworks sign, if you wish!

With regards to the <title> </title>, Jules has already gone over this with you but i totally agree with having your company name in there for SEO purposes. How about having "ABC Company | Home >> Diary Management, Word Processing, Virtual Assistant" ? You could have something like "ABC Company | Home" (however, I have About << ABC Company if you want something different!)

Overall, the core content is there. Just a few more adjustments and you'll be there! However, it's worth mentioning that a site is a work in progress all the time - you'll never be 100% done - you'll always be adjusting bits every couple of weeks - i even today found myself changing some of the text to differentiate myself from a VA (i.e. advertise as Freelance offsite office support)....

Hope I helped and the best of luck!

Rgds
