Default Re-designed and new logo...
I've been playing with Wordpress for a bit and I 'THINK' I'm finally happy!

I've re-launched my website and have started blogging again, and I've even designed myself a new logo...what do you think?

Hi Kelly,

A couple of comments.

My biggest gripe is that your great logo isn't visible on the page at all times. I don't mind the rotating photos, but I wouldn't include your logo in the rotation. Maybe some marketing types could weigh in on this.

Home page: Your second bolded sentence, "Why not use an affordable freelance administrator..." has more space between the first & second lines that the first bolded sentence.

About page: Your last sentence in the first paragraph the word "I" is not capitalized. I really like the multi-armed guy photo. It definitely conveys the message of an overworked exec!

About Me page: This may be one of those Brit vs American spellings, but I wanted to point out that you have spelled dampproffing with one p, in case that is a typo.

Services page: This may be another one of those Brit vs American spelling things: 'had hoc.'

Under Social Networking you have:
From writing your social media strategy to managing your social networking accounts.
I will help build your online presence through a variety of popular networking platforms such as Twitter and Facebook

You have an incomplete sentence in the above & I suspect you meant for it to be all one sentence. ?

Under Word Processing you have: Whatever you need typing I can help.
I think you mean Whenever, or possibly Whatever typing you need, I can help.

At the very bottom, the text in brown: "Can't find what you want on the list? don't worry, it isn't an exhaustive list my any means, ..."

Testimonials - you have some great ones! I love the photo of the people jumping up & down.

Portfolio: I wouldn't have an 'under construction' page on your site. When it's ready, add it, but leave it off until then.

Blog: I enjoyed your blog, "Virtual Assistant - A respected industry." Spot on!!

I like your little social networking icons & how they pop up. It reminds me of those old time cash registers.

I notice that you don't have a rates page. I know some VAs don't like putting their rates out there. Having worked in retail, one of the first rules of product displays was always, always have the price clearly visible as many potential customers will not buy it if they don't know what the cost is. I would love to read other VA opinions on this issue.

Overall, a nice, well organized, clean looking site with clear information! Good work! And thanks for the JibJab link. I didn't know you could send JJ ecards!

Hey Lezley!

Thanks so much for your comments, I really appreciate it, and it's brilliant to know that someone has taken the time to critique it properly!

I have gone over the text time and time again, but started to get tunnel vision! but I have amended everything you've picked up. So thank you.

With regards to the rates page, as well as my own business I also work for a managed VA business, and have clients as part of that business, so to avoid conflict of interest etc I've deliberately removed the rates until I have decided 100% what my strategy will be.

But again, thank you so much for your comments!

not sure what to do about the logo element yet, will have a think! x

Hi Kels, nice to see you on the boards!
I just took a brief glance at your home page and wanted to suggest sharing less of your crucially important above-the-fold space with the comments from your blog - those are interesting for sure but the space they occupy should be dedicated to your main marketing message and at least one call to action - help your visitors get deeper into your site, find anything you have for them to sign up for or subscribe to, and ultimately get in touch with you!

Hi Kelly,
I have the same comment as Tess, I didn't think you had different pages, I am on a netbook and don't see anything below the menu so when I clicked, everything looked the same. This upper area is very valuable real estate and where you "branding" should be.

The "call to action" she speaks of is a very interesting topic, one I an still researching for my own site. But it is very important, the visitor stays on your site longer and your brand/name will be remembered when the time comes to hire a VA.

HTH

Cheers!!

I know I'm a bit late, and I just looked briefly at the site to get a "feel" for it, since the other comments focused on content. One thing I would recommend is that on your "About" tab you move the pic to one side and let the text wrap next to it. I just know I hate when the entire screen is filled with a picture and I have to scroll to read the information that I need.

Good job on the site - I can tell you put a lot of time into it!!

Thanks for all of your comments! it's really great to have a community who takes the time to not just look at my site but also take the time to give some thought and reply.

With all of your comments in mind, I've done yet another re-design. i didn't like the colour scheme, layout etc, so I've moved the navigation to the right so that the focus is primarily on my branding and contact info.

Krystyle, I will also amend the picture so that there's not a lot of scrolling to do ;o) thank you

So again would welcome your thoughts on the whole new design hehe
