Default Please review my website
I'm only new to the forums, but I would really appreciate if you could review my website.

To be quite honest, I am not completely happy with it. I have used Google Sites (as it's the only website builder I actually know how to use).

I really don't like the layout (especially the navigation section), but I think the content is okay. I would really like your honest feedback.

Also, does anyone know of any easy to use website builders? I don't know HTML.

This is the address: http://www.clrsecretarial.com.au

Thanks in advance.

Chauntelle,

I'm no expert, but I like it. There is nothing wrong with the navigation section. Everything is very clear and concise and easy to find what you're looking for. I'm in the website development stage myself. I hope I can do as good a job as you have.

Hi Chauntelle
Great colors, nice use of white space - your site is pretty easy to navigate actually, the only thing I might suggest is to fatten up your links [make them bold, perhaps? or a brighter color?] but otherwise I think that part of the site makes good sense.

I was a little perplexed as to why, when I get to your Rates page I have to click another link to see the rates scale. It seems like if you're going to publish your rates to your site it might as well be right on that first page; save your potential clients a step.

The only other major suggestion I would make is to reconsider the center justification of all of your content. Some things like taglines or headings are great centered, but the rest is just so hard to read. The human eye naturally wants to follow a straight line down the left side and then scans left to right in an F shape... so you can imagine how centering everything can make reading tedious for some people.

As to the links to other VA blogs and networking sites - as great as all of that content is, it's important to think about whether or not it provides value to your potential clients.

I also noticed that the MSNBC video spot is dead and when I click the image of the red binders on your home page it opens up the image at full res which is kind of odd - so you might want to double check those.

Overall I think you did a really great job, especially considering what you had to work with! You should be proud of your efforts

Thanks Norma and Tess for looking at my site.

Tess, thank you for the constructive criticism. In relation to the rates page, I did initially have them posted directly on the page, and I thought it was a bit in your face, so I changed it. You've made a great point and I will have a think about changing that.

I can see what you are saying about the justification. I think I will change that.

It's strange, I just checked the MSNBC link and it worked fine? I will have to check that out. Yes, the pictures are coming up as high res links, I'm not sure why that is but I really need to find out because I don't like that at all.

I really appreciate the feedback. I guess it's not as bad as I thought!!

Hi Chauntelle

I like your website as well!

My only suggestion is perhaps your transcription tips could be swapped to being at the top of the page with the suggested software at the bottom. My only other input would be the page regarding transcribing hours might have a different font size and/or colour. I only say that because the information is important especially to a client and they might not understand that one hour of audio represents up to 4 hours of transcribing and so on.

Apart from that I really like your website.

Michele

My only suggestion is to move your contact information up or make it easier to access. You may want to add at least an email link to the other pages in case someone happens on your site not via the home page.
