Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
Quick edit:
A Virtual Assistant(VA) in Gem’s words is: an independent office assistant that works from their own home office; you could think of me as your invisible right hand dedicated to assisting you in building and managing your business.
there is no employe e payroll, (remove extra space)
You no longer have to pay employees for time not working. (change to worked)
your Virtual Assistant , for actual hours
This will work well for the individual who is not sure for how many hours they’l l need an assistant for. (remove extra space, move the word "for."
Either put in contact form or use Hamid's email coding to protect against spam.
Other than that - looks great!

Thanks Lily,
I made those changes, just what I needed a fresh eye taking a look for me Now please tell me about Hamid's email coding or the contact form, I'm not familiar with how to do either

Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
IMHO, I would take out the fact that you are not accepting clients at this time. Unless there is no way you could serivce the client, you wouldn't want to shut the door without at least repsonding to an inquiry...who knows, the potential client may not be ready either!
I love the color scheme, very nice!
"Work with us today and let our brillance assist you!"
*brillance should be brilliance
*"...assist you with building your business", and/or, "...assist you with increasing your productivity." Or something to that nature.
A VA is your right hand person helping you to succeed in your business.
"The irony is you may never meet your VA as odds are they live nowhere near you!”
I would soften that statement to something like, " While utilizing the latest technology we are able to seamlessly complete your project from a remote location." Or something like it...
Good luck!

Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
Thanks Doreen I made a few more changes, some of the wording I can't change because it is a direct quote from another forum I belong to....maybe I'll take some of it out and reword that whole page at some point

Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
Hi Deb! I love the concept but might suggest finding an image that has a bit more clarity..you want those gems to really shine and be crystal clear. Image quality has a major impact on the appearance of a site. (There's a great stock image site where you can find something perfect I'm sure, check out the thread about it here.)
You've got a really superb tagline but I had to hunt to find it:
"Work with us today and let our brilliance assist you!"
I would suggest creating an image out of this in an eyecatching font, perhaps positioned nicely with your Gems scattered around it...and put it at the top of at least the front page if not elsewhere on the site. (Info on tons of cool free fonts here.)
Instead of 'VA' in 'What is a...' and anywhere else in the site use the full term 'Virtual Assistant' - this is important for search engines as 'VA' is too general.
Also I think it's hard to tell where your in-text links are. If you want them to be black I'd suggest underlining them (studies have actually shown that people more immediately recognize links that are underlined).
I think you've got a really fabulous start but I'm going to say the same thing I always do - more personality is never a bad thing! I think a few more, crisp images would be a great addition
(And thanks for linking back to the forums! I love that part too )

Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
Ok I've made some more changes based on some new idea's and everyone's suggestions(which I really appreciate) I've never put together a website or blog before and I've really been having fun learning how....its great experience! But don't worry I won't be offering it as one of my services anytime soon, that would be way to scarey and I'm also going to look at some different images(thanks Tess) when I can keep my eyes open again I looked briefly at that website you gave me and saw some cool gems!
So how's it looking now???

Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
It always will be (a work in progress) but it's a great skill to have to be able to manage and update your website, to improve it over time more and more. You're doing great!

Re: Opinion on Website/Blog
Looks good You cleaned up the image very nicely (hurrah for Photoshop! ) I would still suggest adding your tagline to the logo, below the business name and gems, and making the Gem's Virtual Office text bigger.
Also, be sure to add image alt tags to your logo - do you see when you mouse over my logo or Tawnya's on your site, or here, it says 'Virtual Assistant Forums' or relative? This is important for SEO and for sight-impaired users. Check here for info on how to do this.
Good job so far!
