Hi there!

I have made so many revisions to my site, changes of wording, struggling over rates, what should go in, what shouldn't.

well, let's hope that this will be the last time I have to do a major re-write.

Can you please check it out and let me know what you think.

Kim

Hi Kim,

I wasn't on your original thread so I am looking at this with a fresh set of eyes.

My comments:

"Assisting your small or medium sized company reach it's full operating potential."

This is not a sentence.

Perhaps it should be this:

XX assists your small or medium-sized company reach its (not it's) full, operating
potential. (But I wouldn't say that anyway because it really does not mean too much.)

But my suggestion is that this entire paragraph not be a paragraph. It's too verbose. Rather, consider making it lively with bullet points.

When people have to read text instead of eyeballing the page quickly, you can lose them.
I believe you only have a few seconds before the folks click off the page and text can be a turn-off. So I suggest making this stand out better with bullets and exciting fonts.

Look at the home page as a place for users to see their problems and the ways that your services are the solution. I'd think about a more dynamic text.

I would also suggest some kind of 'call to action' on the home page. If someone is not ready to contract with you, don't lose the viewer. Try at least to capture their email address with a free download, a financial tips page, a newsletter sign up, a coupon or something you will give them in exchange for capturing their email address.

I like the colors and the header. Nice job. I also think you did a great job with the Duties page. That is nicely laid out and easy to read.

Janine

Your site has a clean layout, & I like your graphics, but I could not get past the bright yellow background behind the text. I like the yellow, just not behind the text.

Hi Kim,
Very nice and clean layout. I have been tinkering with my website for the last couple of weeks and it is quite a process! I concur with the comments above. One suggestion I have regarding the content is to revise in third person instead of first (e.g., "Bookkeeping by Squire will..." instead of "I will"). The orange on the menu bar is a little distracting against the yellow and brown...Laura

Thanks for the input.
I have changed the colour, it's now more of a pumkinish shade. Not bad.
Going to work on the home page text, this will require some heavy thinking.
Gonna have a lookie-lou at some of the sites listed here, stea.. um get some ideas.

Janine, this is actually the first time I've posted here about my site. First I had my husband go over it, he's a website builder, got the code in shape. Then had some friends check it out. Made changes based on their input. Then went through a mind gripping fear about the rates I wanted and changed the site lots.

After heavy thinking I finally decided on my packages and rates. Only 2 .
Will change the colour after I work on the front page text later.

Again thanks.

Kim.

Hi Kim,

One of the first things I do when reviewing a site is to run it through the W3C Markup Validation Service. I would have hubby fix the issues that came up for each page. Will say 'kudos' to hubby for not using tables for layout/presentation.

Other than that, the advice from others I am in agreement on. You're progressing, so that's what counts!

Oh! I like how you included your credentials.

HTH a bit,

Hi Kim,

I agree that the yellow is a bit bright for an entire background. Maybe if you could make it a softer yellow? But if YOU really like it, honestly, I'd leave it that way! I love your layout! I really like seeing sites that aren't chopped up into squares and rectangles and that have something besides white as a background color. And it looks good regardless of what resolution I have set for my monitor. Sometimes sites look good at one setting and not so great in others. It's hard to get that balance.

I did notice a few things. It's SO hard to proofread your own stuff after you've poured over it, changed this, and changed that.

Under Home:

Assisting your small or medium sized company reach it's full operating potential.

Working within Scarborough and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) Offering services Virtually through-out Ontario.

These are not complete sentences. The it's should be its. And I believe through-outshould be throughout. Maybe...

My goal is to assist your small- or medium-sized company in reaching its full operating potential. Although I work within Scarborough and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), my services are available virtually throughout Ontario.

Under Duties:

There is a difference between what a Bookkeeper does and what an Account does.

I believe it should be Accountant instead of Account.

Very nice picture of yourself, too!

I have a suggestion make the content area while and the rest yellow. That way you give your site a burst of color but still make it easy to read!

Hi, I was not on the first thread so I will give my 2 cents now if you don't mind?
I think your website looks good. The graphics are nice and simple, its not wordy and is easy to navigate.
