Default new website feedback
I had a student help me with my website - it isn't yet perfect - but enough content at the moment to get me started. I would appreciate any criticism, suggestions etc.

I like the colors. Green is on my site as well. What hosting service are you using? I see they loaded a banner above your website. It takes away from the impact of opening your website.

The content is great! Very well put together. Did you do that yourself? It's awesome. Great job! Good luck!

I agree with Mary Lou that the green is really nice!

I also feel that the ads detract from the overall presentation and professionalism of the site.
I usually really like small fonts, but this one feels quite hard for me to read (maybe I'm just aging myself, ) maybe just increase the font size one pixel - you don't want your potential clients to have to squint...they'll not likely have the patience for it (studies show that people sum up the info on your site and decide if they want to learn more in the first ten seconds!)

And definitely do check out our SEO section for some tips and tricks you can implement on your site to help your search results.

Nice Site!

I would like to know your concept of having people come to your site and purchasing time out-right? Will you perform work with agreements/contracts that your client will have to sign or are you interested in hearing about the project before they make a purchase?

Other than those questions, I think it is a really nice job.

Thankyou for your input and suggestions. I agree about the font I too think it's a little small and am going to attempt to increase it. At the moment I'm fumbling my way through html so it may take me a while. I have also contacted my webhost about moving their banner at the top of the page to another location - but no response to my request yet - it is not something I asked for.

As for clients signing up for blocks of time before contacting me about a project - I didn't intend to convey that message - so will think about putting more information in that section point them to discuss it with me first.

Once again thanks for the input

I like the green on your site too. Very nice.

I also host with netfirms. They are a great hosting company. The advertising at the top of your site is automatic with free hosting. To remove the banner ads you need to upgrade your hosting package. I pay $5 per month for my Plus hosting plan with them and I have no ads.

Try wrapping the text in these tags to change the size:

<FONT SIZE=4>TEXT GOES HERE</FONT>

For example:
<FONT SIZE=4>I am Muriel Connors... and a Virtual Assistant (VA).</FONT>

Font can have a basic size value of between 1 and 7 (Click here for a font size table to help you see the relationship between each one.)

Hope that helps!

Hi Muriel,

Congratulations on completing your site. I like the layout and wording you have used. Did it take you long to develop the content?

I would definately increase the font size and is it possiblefor the site to be wider? It seems very narrow.

I hope this doesn't sound too critical or fussy. I'm hoping to get our site reviewed soon and would want any feedback so here it goes.

Home Page
- Your mission statement would have more focus if it could be moved over to the right a little and not so close to the left margin.
- last paragraph, missing a full stop after ".......face to face"
- last paragraph states services offered are listed on the "Services and rates pages". I think it should just be "Services page". The services aren't listed on the rates page.

Services Page
- last paragraph, I think "individual" should be "individuals"
- left side panel. I thought these were hyperlinks for more info. Do you have something else planned for that section? If not, I'd suggest having 1 panel on this page would be better.
- greyish panel box on left needs a bit more length to be aligned with the one on left.

Contact Us Page
- there are other pictures on the page. Would you consider adding a photo of yourself?

Hope something in that is useful
Michelle

Oh Boy! I'm used to WYSIWYG- but am learning html
I have made some corrections and had my co-designer change the font for me. I hope it looks better. Thank you I have copied the page for future reference.

The colours are nice, but I would definitely get rid of those ads. The animation works when the page first loads but is distracting each time you click to another page, but that's just my preference. I'm not sure animation ads a lot of value to the website. The ads provide no value to your business so you should consider removing them - you are promoting your business, not Netfirm's. If you are getting free hosting and that's the reason for the ads, I'd pay for hosting. If you are paying for hosting, why are they advertising their service on your website, especially at the top of the page?

Please keep us updated on how you do with selling the blocks of time on your site; that's a unique idea! Good luck with your business.
