Default New web site - would love your input!
Hi everyone! I published my web site over the weekend, and I would love feedback from anyone who has time to take a look. I'm already thinking about moving the navigation bar to the left, instead of running across the top of the page. Anyone have any other suggestions/comments? I haven't reviewed for typos yet, but sometimes it helps to have a fresh set of eyes anyway to catch errors I might have missed. Here's the link: www.preciselywriteservices.com.

Hi Tammi
I'm going to assume your spelling and grammar are triple-checked to perfection!

Overall, your site looks clean and well thought out. I'm sure the menu would be just as nice on the sidebar as it is across the top. It's always fun to play around with basic design elements to see which layout suits your own personal preferences best.

I guess I would first suggest that you read through the SEO section of the forums for a few tips on how to optimize your site - you might want to add image tags, optimized page titles, and H tags to your content to help the search engines rank you higher for your particular keywords. Also, consider using the full term 'Virtual Assistant' throughout the site, rather than 'VA' (no one really runs searches for 'VA' )

It's great that you have your smiling face on the 'About Us' page! Great move - I think all too often VA sites start to look 'one and the same' (particularly with so many pre-written bits of content provided en masse by VA industry sites) - adding your picture to the site is a very humanizing move, sets your site apart a bit too!

I particularly like your Partnering Philosophy - I might only suggest that you move that to the About Us page...

Looks good

Tess,

Thanks for the input and suggestions! Funny you should mention my usage of VA instead of Virtual Assistant; over my lunch hour, I was reading a book about getting started in the VA industry and read that very same suggestion in the Search Engine Optimization section. Unfortunately, I don't have access to make changes to my web site from the computer at my full-time job, but I plan to look into that tonight. Also, good suggestion to move the Partnering Philosophy to the About Us page. I'll look into that as well! Thanks again!

Hi Tammi and Welcome,
I took a few minutes and just checked out your site. You did a great job.
Just a couple things:

Your Site Map page doesn't list the pages in the same order as your navigation tabs.

Also the all, or mostly, bold font on your What is...?, Services and Rates pages made me feel like you were "in my face" so to speak. Personal preference on my part would be to have headings and certain important items bolded and the rest normal.

Definitely agree with Tess on moving the Partnering Philosophy to the About Us page.

:-)

Thanks for the input, ladies!

Christina - the regular text wasn't bolded, but it was the same size as the headlines, and I can see what you mean about it being "in your face." I made the body text a size smaller than the headlines and I think it does look a lot better. Thanks for the suggestion! I couldn't change the Site Map, though - I'm using the free Microsoft Office web hosting, and my options are very limited. Hopefully soon I'll get some $$ rolling in so I can afford to upgrade my web service!

I made a few other changes too - this site is a constant work in progress! Please keep the comments & suggestions coming!

Tammi, your website looks really good and I see you've implemented the suggested changes.

It seems like the text color in your Rates page is different from the other pages, its a lighter shade of blue. I also think it would be a good idea to rearrange your Sitemap page unless its already on your to-do list.

Tammi,
I also use the free MSO Live and had the same problem. If you delete the page and then open a new "general" page named Site Map, you can enter the list however you need to. Just remember to hyperlink each page name to its corresponding web address. If you need my help just shoot me an email or on AIM.

I like this new layout better, but maybe I'm a little impartial, because it's the same as mine I use MSO too. I think the content is good, but it needs some pizazz, especially on the first page. Maybe some pictures or something to break up all the text a little bit or even put some of the text you want to highlight inside a frame. I personally think a smaller text would be easier on the eyes.

Thanks for the Site Map tip, Christina. I'll try that!

Rebecka - how funny that we have the same layout! That's one of the drawbacks of using these free hosting services - the templates could end up the same as someone else's. I was wondering if the home page was a little content-heavy...when I have a chance I will try to break it up a bit.

Thanks for the comments!
