Default New Site!
I went ahead and registered my own domain and set up my site (myself!.. didn't get a sitebuilder. I used Dreamweaver)

Congrats! Great job - keep working with Dreamweaver and your skills will only increase and improve!!
Try using the Dreamweaver program to update the CSS template and see what you can come up with.
(I do still think a few graphics would be a great addition to the overall design though )

Hi Amy,

Congratulations on building your site. Your site is different to many other sites I have seen. It's unusual not to have much colour but I think I like it. Out of interest, did you try it with other colours as well?

A small little note, the last couple of lines of your profile aren't left aligned with everything else. Should they be?

Well done.

I like the colour scheme - the black & white is great!

Great start! If you want to get rid of the borders around the linked images, insert border="0" into the code.

Great start Amy, I like it. I am a color person but, the black and white looks very clean and professional.

I am too, but my website until last week was red and white. I've redone my business cards on cream paper so I decided to give my site a cream background and I really like it. It just warms it up, but I love that black and white theme. I think it's really outstanding.

Thank you ladies for the feedback. I actually found a picture that I liked, and I think I am going to add it to the right side, under the categories list. However, to match things I am going to have it in greyscale. I think it would be weird to have a color picture with black and white every where else.
I am kind of a boring person and I like black and white in a professional setting, so I chose that. Also the letterhead that I designed has the black border at the top where Total Solutions is written in white, so when I was looking for templates this one matched my letterhead the most. =)

Amy,

Nice job on your web site! It looks very good.

I like the general design and your black and white scheme too.

You had mentioned you are going to add an image to the site and make it greyscale. I immediately thought it would be kind of neat if you can have most of the image greyscale and perhaps one part in color....

For example, if you had a picture of a desk with a flower pot on it. You can have everything but the plant greyscale. Maybe make the plant pink or something. I am pretty sure you can do this using Photoshop by manipulating layers.

The images on your portfolio page really pop in relation to your overall color scheme, so that is what gave me the idea.

Anyhow, just my thoughts. Nice job!

Hi there, I just wanted to find out how the customization of your free template is going? Are you finding it easy to work in Dreamweaver with it?

Many Creative Commons released/free templates (like the one you're using) have what you might consider 'funky' code and can sometimes be very difficult to work with - hopefully that's not the case in this instance!

Wow, I really like it! I'm not as computer talented in that area so I had to use a site builder to do mine. And.. I paid to have a logo designed.. and LOVE IT.

Love your site

Ok.. I added some color. I went with read because it goes with my other colors and (I think) makes them stand out more..and vice versa. I also added an Accordion menu bar and a different menu bar at the top. Let me know what you think!
(I also had a lady proofread my site.. what I learned, I advice anyone who is not that great at being unbiased when they are reading their own work to do this! I learned A LOT of good tips!)

Hi Amy
Looking good - one quick thing I noticed on your profile page and on Chelsea's - the grey footer is moved up so it's covering a portion of the text (I'd share a screenshot but am not at home...) I'm on IE (an older version but not sure which one as it's not my computer...)

Also, the link to Rates and Services at the bottom of this page http://www.vatotalsolutions.net/amybray.html doesn't work - maybe go through and check all of your links quickly to make sure they're functional.
