Re: Need all constructive critisim
While I didn't get a chance to see the first pass, I will say that I think this is a good start.
The things you really need to keep in mind when developing a website is that you have only a few seconds to grab your visitor's attention. If they actually have to read paragraphs vs. getting the benefits at a glance of why they should stick around and read more, then your website is not going to work for you.
Also - there is a fair amount of grammar and typos on the site as well. Remember, you never get another chance to make a good impression and prospective clients can consider the lack of attention to detail as a big show stopper, especially from VA's. They may assume that if you are not careful in your own stuff, then you won't be careful with theirs.
It's like here on the forums. I see many who come to the forums and write posts, almost as if they are on a chat or something more informal, but what they don't realize is that PC's are watching and so are other VA's who you may want to sub-contract for someday.
Now, while the occasional typo on a forum like this is likely going to occur, it is still critical that it be minimal. We must all be mindful of who is watching. However, on your website or in your marketing materials it just should never happen. I'm preaching to myself as well, because I have been guilty as well, and I know that I may have lost opportunities because of my carelessness. In fact, I had some real major typos on a "under construction" page recently. I too hurried through and was distracted in the middle of some technical issues. While I was very grateful for the fact that someone emailed me and let me know, albeit from a perspective of being quite rude and insulting in the approach, it brought it back to my mind as well.
So as you make edits to your website, I encourage you to get a friend or colleague to actually edit your content. We don't see what other's see because we are just too close to it.
I hope this proves to be of help.
