Question My New Website ... Please Critque
Hi everyone. I thought I would repost my request since I only got 1 response (thanks Vicky! ) . I would love to know what people think.

I am a little nervous because this is the first website I have ever done, but I trust your opinion!

Thanks everyone!
Melissa

Hi Melissa- You didn't have to repost your request. I'm sure you'll get a lot more comments during the week. Many people do tend to take a break over the weekend.

Well done! You have done a great job!

One of your bullet points is showing as indented on your services page.

For your copyright notice I think you should have "(c) 2008 VEA Solutions All rights reserved" but I'm not sure if you only need "All rights reserved" over in the US.

I really like your site. You provide a lot of information which is clear and concise. Your experience surely shines through.

Deb,

Thanks for the encouragement!

I can't tell you how frustrated I have been with that bullet point issue. For some reason it will NOT format back to a regular bullet point??? I used MS Office Live and have tried every configuration I can think of to get it to change to a regualr bullet point.

Other than that I am happy with it. It took my 2 days to complete, but it was worth it. Now if I can just get some steady clients all will be well!

Thanks again!
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
I like your site. It's clean and crisp and easy to navigate. The only thing I would recommend would to change the picture/graphic at the top of the guy with the two stacks of files as I've seen that picture used on about 5 other VA sites. It's best if you could find something a bit more unique (that's just my two cents.)

On another note, I like your logo. I think it is clear and professional.

In addition to the photos on the homepage, I'm a bit doubtful about the effectiveness of these photos addressing executives. They wouldn't identify themselves with these slightly stupid looking men in the pictures as no executive would sit there like that (they have better desks and they don't use such a calculator). It's a different target group.

The large pic is also stretched, which looks weird. I would get rid of both photos and find different ones. An executive looks different if this is your target group (as you say in your tag line).

I am also a believer in positive images, not too many photos with overwhelmed people because people don't really like to identify themselves with those photos, even if they feel overwhelmed. As the home page is the first page someone sees when coming to your site, I would show positive photos, like a busy business man photo on the run. Choose a photo with a business man or woman that looks successful. Check the clothes, the desk size, the demeanor on the photo. It's important to have it all in tune to get the right message across.

Hi Melissa,

Your site looks clean, and your logo looks great. Although, I would suggest making your logo smaller. Your logo is overpowering your site. You want your visitors to focus on what you have to say, not your logo.

Also on your portfolio page you have, "No job is too big or too small." I've read that on other VA sites. I would suggest removing it, or come up with something else.

Overall, your site looks great!

I agree with the size of your logo. It's a bit too large, it takes up too much room.

Also, do you really want the "search" box on the top of your site? You don't want people navigating away from your site by allowing them to search the web directly from your site.

Hi Melissa,

I just had a quick look at your website again and found a few other things to note:

Home page - the first instance you use "entrepreneures" which is an incorrect spelling. The second time you use that word on your home page you have got it right. Its hard to proofread something that you have written and know by heart by the 30th time you have looked it over....these things are easy to miss.

Bio page - in your quote "I am passionate about........" there looks to be two spaces between the words "helping" and "people". May just be my browser though.

Otherwise looks great,

Deb

I think you page looks great. Nice professional, clean, and easy to navigate. The one thing that I noticed that your logo at the top of your home page isn't the same size as the table below. It makes it look a little off. Also, where it says "Take some time to browse our site and see how we can help you launch your business into a whole new realm!" doesn't look centered on the page.
There is some type of error on your Portfolio page with the image. It starts to load, loads the picture, then it goes away, and says "Image is missing". It's almost like it keeps searching for the picture.
I think you've done a great job!

Leslie
