Question My New Website
Hi ladies,

I would love to know what you think about my new website! It is way better than the freewebs site I started using. I even have 1 client that I do light phone work for!! Yesterday I did have an inquiry, but unfortunately I don't have Real Estate experience!!

http://annsvirtualadministrativesolutions.com

Let me know what you think! I'm not finished, I have many things to add, like this fabulous site I need to link back to and others as well!!

Thank you!!

Very nice!! But I'm not the website guru here, so I am sure Tess or Hamid will have much more informative info than me I love the picture on it!

I have a few suggestions:

1) make the print bigger (I had to squint to read it 'cuz I have old eyes )

2) I wouldn't put that you are only available evenings and weekends - just tell people that you will be working on their projects in the evening/on the weekend and let them assume you are busy with other projects during the day (you are - just not necessarily VA stuff!)

3) Since you are virtual, I wouldn't put a mapquest on the site, which makes it look like you have a specific office location.

4) Per a "Tess" post, put a contact form on your site instead of email or, if you do use email, use Hamid's email conversion coding to protect your email address from spammers.

5) Fix your page headings to read something like "Virtual Assistant - Introduction - Ann's Virtual Administrative Solutions", "Virtual Assistant - Profile - Ann's Virtual Administrative Solutions", etc.

6) Check the posting I had put on requesting review of my website for some other really great suggestions! That posting is listed at Please look and comment!

Please don't take all of my suggestions as criticism, though. I loved the pictures and the feel of your website!

I work on a Mac and I use Firefox...and your site viewed strangely in my browser. Everything was aligned to the left, and to the right I had a huge blank space...can you center it in the browser window?

Also, the photo on the "Services and Rates" page might look better centered in the box.

Overall, I like the color scheme and everything looks professional.

Hi Ann I really like that your site has a non-traditional layout...it's quite nice to see a site that's not front and center, I think it gives it a unique look. I've done this a bit on a few of my own sites recently and it can be hard to pull off but this is nice.

Lily has great points all the way around, especially about the way you word your availability. (Except that I personally tend to like smaller sized fonts, but understand it can be a pain for some viewers. )

Looking at your rates, from a client's point of view I'm not clear on why I would be charged more if we're not sure how long something should take. Your rates should be straightforward so there's no confusion for the client. Most people want to know what they're getting relative to cost, so try to make that as clear as possible. It's the VAs job to have the perspective on how long something will take - in my experience it's easier for everyone involved if you just charge a straight hourly rate and/or per project (although straight hourly makes the most sense when you're first starting out - you don't want to accidentally undercharge!) and leave it at that.

And, you have a ton of experience but you don't really flaunt your stuff as much as you could on your profile page - take advantage of those 18 years and share some info on why that makes you the perfect VA!

I think you have a fabulous start on your site and I'm so excited for you that you're already working. Keep tweaking it until it reflects your personality and your professionalism!

Hi Lily,

Sorry about the print and thank you for pointing that out!!

I put my evening hours because I was afraid of not getting back to the client right away. There are times when I work straight through lunch because of meetings and training classes.

These are great tips, thank you for being honest with me. : )

I'm glad you pointed that out to me. I wonder how many Mac and Firefox users have viewed my site and thought I didn't know what the heck I was doing. LOL

Thank you

Hi Tess,

These are all great points. I will have to go back and tweak my site definitely. I do have a lot of experience since I've been working in the office straight out of high school, you are right, I short changed myself.

Thank you very much, you all are wonderful!!
