Default I would love any feedback!
My website is not 100% finished, but I would still love any feedback regarding the general format and feel of it. I am still working on making the font smaller, as I think it reads now like one of those enlarged print Reader's Digest magazines. Ha ha!

Thanks so much!

Like it, nice and clean. Agree about the font size and the rates page didn't want to load up. Looove the paperclips idea

Hi Heather, I really like the look of your site upon first landing on the home page - it's crisp, clean and easy to navigate.

I think it's a great addition that you include an image of yourself - giving a personalized approach, and a human face to the business.

To cut down on the length of the home page I'd move the 'call me' to just the contact page, and perhaps the sidebar of the blog. I'd also move the Twitter bar to your blog (only).

One quick note about your services page - because you've got all the text in an image it doesn't give any SEO value (since Google can't read the text on the image). It's a really cute concept though so in order to kind of 'balance out' the SEO loss on that page I'd recommend beefing up the content in other areas of the site.

Heather,

I really like you website, I think it looks great so far!
It's very clean looking.
I did notice on item that I think is a typo. On your About me page, where it says "...and take pride in my work in way that..." I would suggest adding an 'a' between 'in' and 'way'. Just helps the sentence flow better.
I hope that doesn't sound too nit-picky!

Otherwise, I really like your site! Great job

Thank you for taking a look, and giving me such valuable feedback. Tess, I did not even think about that text not being searchable (on services page!). Is it possible to add the same text, and put it in black behind the image? Is that considered fair practice? I still need to work on building a lot of content. I have just been so darn busy. I fixed the length of the front page as well.

Your website looks crisp and clean - good job. I, too, LOVE the paper clips.

For my images of text, I made a div class <div class="type"> that I wrapped my text in and then in my css I added:

.type {
text-indent: -9999px;
}

Basically it just pushes the text out of sight.

Elise, thanks so much. Can you explain a bit more? How does it manage to push the text out of sight? I mean, what purpose does that serve exactly? I did add a long document (borrowed from Nina Feldman) that hopefully will enhance SEO qualities. Thanks again!

Hi Heather,

Actually, I learned that technique in a tutorial I did - but, as I was trying to look it up to find a concise explanation of the reasoning for you, I found that using text indent for that purpose is basically the wrong way to go about it. What needs to be used are alt tags, which I had totally forgotten existed, and which make sense.

Then I was referred to
which says Google wants alt tags. And what Google wants...

Also, in the process of researching this I found a great resource: Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide.

HTH

I enjoy your light, airy, happy, informative site.

I think your services page is a little cluttered. I wonder if, rather than an image, you could use your background as a page background so that your different services could become clickable. My knowledge of webdesign is almost non-existent; and I don't even know why I'm making the suggestion, but it just seems like a good idea.

Regardless, I find your site informative.
