Hi Portia. Your website looks good! I have one comment, which you're not going to like ... but I made the same mistake when I first launched my site. Even though your kids are darling, they really don't have any meaning for your customers and so pictures of them are not appropriate on your site. Your photos need to suggest total professionalism, and unfortunately our culture does not see children as representative of professionalism. See what I mean? I had my site full of photos I'd taken that were unrelated to my business, but a copywriting specialist set me straight. Now my site looks pretty dry to me, but it's really much better.
Just my 2 cents!

Portia,
I have to agree with Mary.
I understand wanting to show off your family but prospective clients would prefer to think of you as a single, professional instead of a SAHM with little ones running around while you are trying to complete work.

I have a 2 year old and no babysitter so I spend my days working around his needs but my clients don't need to know that

Hi Portia,

Good job! Don't you just love the free Microsoft Office Live program? I'm using their free web hosting service also and so far, it's been great.

I agree with the other ladies about the personal photos - it's great to have a photo of just you on the About Us page so people can put a face with a name, but that should be the only photo on your site. The other photos take attention away from your message: that you are a professional VA providing services to other businesses.

One other comment: Capitalizing every word within your paragraphs is a bit distracting and makes the text hard to read.

I love that you included a favorite links page and invite visitors to link to you. Great idea!

Hi Portia Congratulations on launching your website!
I agree with all of the above - your kids are darling and personality is a *great* thing to add and is often completely overlooked in favor of 'professionalism' so I applaud you for wanting to offer more of your 'self' in your site - but the key is moderation and there is nowhere on a professional administrative website that pics of children, no matter how darling, make sense.

Definitely keep a pic of your smiling face on the 'about' page though!

Tammi's points about capitalization are important too. Think of it this way: you want to present your own website and content as if it were a finished project for a client.
