Hi!

I guess you found your pictures at the same place as I did! I would say that some of the pictures need some re-adjusting. The size of the piggy bank is way too big. Also, try to be careful when re-sizing the pictures because they lose the scale/ratio and looks deformed. Try to align your text better and not so much all over your page (example: your contact page makes me a little dizzy). Spacing might also need to be readjusted and font type and size should be a little more consistent. Lastly, the brown background and mint color are not my favourite.
Everything is there, you just need to play around with what you have to make it perfect. But of course that's just my own opinion.

Genevieve,

Thank you for your feedback. It really helps to have the perspective of other ppl. Yeah, I see we did get our photos from the same place. I have a little secret to share with ya! I had the same photo on my home page as you do...LOL! Needless to say, I changed it.

Anyway, I am in the process of implementing some changes...sorry about the colors though

Thanks again!

BTW, if you get a chance check back in a few days. The site, hopefully, should look better. I called in the "forces."

I see you have already changed your site. It's already much better. I realise that you’re still working on it but here are a few things I can comment on:
First, I would change your header from "Your Humble Assistant, Virtual Assistant" to “Your Humble Assistant, Virtual Assistant Services” or something else since you already have Virtual Assistant in your company name and wouldn’t underline it and maybe try in white instead of blue. Also, this is nothing but your bar when you mouse over is the same blue as your background and looks odd. You should be consistent in your services page with spacing and your fonts and font sizes. Your picture at the bottom is not centered and seems squished. Now, I’m not an expert and these comments are only based on my opinions so hopefully it helps a little. I’ll take a look again in a few days if you still want my opinions. Since we’re at it, any comments on my site? I still have to add wording to my buttons (home, services, about us, rates, contact us) but I’m having computer issues. After that I’m pretty much done. Well, hopefully the “forces” help you out, good job !

Hi there
Genevieve has given you some great feedback, and I don't know what you're in the process of addressing so ignore anything that might double up on comments already made...

I don't see a stitch of SEO on your site - I know it can feel overwhelming to try to build a site on your own, but SEO is easiest implemented as you go, page by page, image by image, paragraph by paragraph... Check out the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for a few tips and tricks to help you.

My first impression is that there are too many questions on the front page - you know already that your ideal client needs your help - TELLING them that they need you, and more specifically WHY they need you and HOW you will be useful will get such a different reaction than 'Do you need a Virtual Assistant?'

What Humble Virtual Assistant Can Do For You

rather than "What can a Virtual Assistant do for you?"

etc. etc.

Make use of all the space in your header and the main content of your page - that is where you need to grab the attention of your visitor and draw their interest so they click further to learn more about how you can help them and ultimately contact you.

What is Q and A? I might reword that as 'How to Work with a Virtual Assistant' or similar... if you need to space your menu across the top to give more direction to your navigation then do it - give your visitors a reason to click and learn more, and give the search engines more to work with - you'll be better off for it all the way around.

Good luck!

Hey Genevieve!

Thank you so much for your help. Yep, I am plugging away at my web site. Bad news though, I found another VA's website with the SAME EXACT photos I am using (and one of yours ). Now I have that sinking feeling in my gut. I'm going to have to change the photos again . It's just easier to come up with something different besides those photos, sigh. Too bad I don't have the budget to pay for professionally done photos, but one day soon.

Thanks and keep the feedback coming. It's really helpful.

Hi Angela,
I think you have done great on your site. Most of the previous comments have already been implemented and I am sure you have learned a lot along the way.

I'd love to see a photograph of you on your site and don't underestimate what a digital camera and some good light can do to produce your own pictures for your site. Even a sketch you scan can be a great way to generate your own style and pics.

HTH

Cheers!!

I'm in the same boat as you. I get comments on my site and then I feel overwhelmed because I think that all the work I did is for nothing and have to do it over again. But really, first we're learning a lot from this and second it's only people's opinions. I'm not looking at targeting much outside my local community for now and when people go to my site it will be more likely because they have been directed there (not just people browsing). I want to have a quality website but it’s not my only way to sell myself. There will always be room from improvement and need to change things. I think your site should reflect who you are and be able to show what kind of VA you will be. Keep at it and relax! I’ll be happy to give you my opinion again when you’re done.

I just checked out your site and am now going to redo mine! lol. I love the way you handled the rates page! It looks wonderful. And instead of a list of a simple explanation of what a virtual assistant is, you handled it so wonderfully with the q&a page. Fantastic site!
