Default Feedback on my site please
I was a part-time VA/PA who is planning to move to the VA world fulltime. Please be kind and let me know were I am going wrong. I'd like to get all the tweeks done before I sent my link and news out to my network/ family and friends.

I have never blogged before but plan to put one up on the site which deals with the Administrative world. Tips and Tricks. These are the type of things I have published in newletters before.

The site BCI or Bolin Consulting Inc. is my previous company name and I just needed to rebrand.

TIA

Re: Feedback on my site please
Hi Bernice,

I am by no means an expert on website design but I am happy to make an unbiased comment off the top of my head. Could I suggest that you turn the calendar into a pop up or click here and you can see your calendar type of change. I was reading only earlier this week that the eye naturally looks from left to right. If that is the case, the information that you have provided will be lost and ignored. So what I mean is lose the calendar and bring your services, history over to the left. You could perhaps change the partners link to a links link instead - meaning put that inside the home page perhaps.

I was wondering if you could make the site a little more user friendly; modern, can't find the right word. I have just noticed again that you have a 'click' here spot for the calendar yet you provide the calendar in the layout on most pages - this is doubling up and a little confusing.

Apart from that it is a great starting point, it looks professional and serious - I would consider using your services if I was a corporate player. Anyway I hope that didn't hurt and good luck with your endeavours.

Wow. You have done a lot of work! So far so good. You even have the URL bar icon done! Amazing! The site seems to work, all links are there....there are three colors which is perfect (not 5-6-7 colors which gets crazy).

The only thing I can say is that I am not crazy about the olive green color. But, that is more a matter of taste.....it does not make or break the site.

I love the typewriter image! Did you plan that? The letters all lining up???

Good job. And, trust me, since I went to school in the area of multimedia? I would tell you.

(P.S. I did not stay long, sorry.....I am exhausted)

Love that you used clean and simple.
I also liked that on your services page you added the what we do for others!

Don't get the idea behind the calendar, could be used for something more interactive or informative.

And the other thing I noticed is other than your contact page you have not other way to get in touch with you. A simple email link or address would do fine but some don't want to fill out a form and therefore won't send you a message.

Great job and good luck to you.

Hi Bernice:

I agree with Michelle, Lesley and Lee on points. I, too, am not too crazy about the color. It's a bit on the 'melancholy' side, but that's just one person's opinion, that's all. As for the calendar--I agree with Michelle. You could have the calendar pop up and have it be an option unless you have it there for a reason. Love the layout. I'd even go so far as to personalize it a bit more. It would be nice to see your smiling face somewhere in the site. I'm planning on doing mine that way (still in progress). I am curious, though, on how you selected your web hosting company and why.

Best wishes and good luck!
Kathya

OK, so the colors were well blah, but that was really left over branding so I am experimenting with some others.
I am really having problems getting the colors right so please check back later.

Regarding the typewriter image. I actually took some pictures of my typewriter which happens to have green keys.. I photoshoped the image to say BCI and changed the hues to match the page better, It is a work in progress.

I like the calendar because I am always asking when something needs to be done and if we both have a calendar in front of us this helps pin down the timing, but I have started to remove them from other pages and adding a few graphics.

Really, must I put my phone number up…. I get enough spam as it is.

I need to think about putting a picture up. I am a bit shy but I’ll take a few photos next time I get my hair done.

Thanks to all who provided feedback. I’ll continue tweeking and hope to launch the last week of March.

Hello Bernice,

I think you've done a great job on your website. I'm not a techie so I can't critique that part of it. I especially like the list of what you can do in an hour. Who knows, a potential client could be reading it, and it trigger a memory of something on their to-do list and they give you a ring. Not necessarily a ring, but contact you. Do you mind if I use that concept? I'm a newbie to the field, no website or printed materials yet, just making notes of things I like.

I'm on the fence with regards to the calendar. Part of me likes it, and part of me doesn't. Can you put up only one month at a time as opposed to two and just let viewers click to the next month if they need to see it?

Also, as Lee suggested, you might want to add another way to contact you. Not necessarily a phone # but an email link.

Best wishes to you,
Dana

Nice job! Here's where I found one thing:

Please fill out the form below and tell us what your executive virtual assistant can do for you. We will respond within 24 hours during normal business hours.

I'm not sure what these "A's" are. Also, you might want to reconsider the light text color. Your one page with the black color was pleasing to the eye for me to read. The light grey was bothersome. Maybe darken up the grey more.

All and all, looks good! Nice job!

Thanks Robin and all of you who took a look. I fixed the A's and adjusted the text darker. Couldn't have done it without all the help I've had on the Forum. Another eye is very helpful. Many thanks again.

Wow!

That is a great site - you have been working hard this week. I love it - it has clear; clean; concise and friendly appearance and professional at the same time. You have managed to get all your main points into the boxes on each page and it runs very smoothly.

Great job, well done!

cheers
