Color Scheme Opinion
So, I looked at my website today and didn't like my background color any longer (nor the text color for my headers). I don't know, I liked it last week when I designed it, now I think the blues may be a little too dark. So, please be honest and tell me which you like better:
Current Color Scheme
Yellow Samplel
Unfortunately, I am never happy with my web design work, it always needs to be better (and I know it can be). So, ideas, opinions. Too bright? Current one, too dark? I feel like I am back at square one!!
Thank you!

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
As I said in an earlier post today I've been through A LOT of sites in the past couple of days. I like your site as it stands. I think it is very clean and professional yet polished. It would rank in my top 10. The only color I would change is the yellow/green one. I think the blues are fine. I think the yellow alternative you provided is too much...yellow. One of the first things I notice at a site is unique fonts. I really like yours! Hope this helps.
Make it a great day!

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
I agree, the yellow is a bit too yellow. Almost an eye-sore, in my opinion. I like the blue...but then blue is my favorite color, so I may be a bit biased.
I know what you mean about constantly wanting to change your web site...I've already completely overhauled my color scheme once and my site hasn't even been up for 2 weeks yet!
Good luck with making your decisions!

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
Thank you! Sundi, you hit the nail right on the head. The golden/green text color is really the one that bothers me the most. Tamm - the yellow is a bit of an eye sore, huh? lol. I kinda thought so. Thank you!

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
I am also thinking of improving my site, I feel that something is still missing. lolol
I like the blue on yours. With the yellow is hard to focus on the words and graphics. It stands out too much. Like Tammi, blue is my favorite color, is blue your favorite color?
If you are not satisfied with the blue you should change it, but maybe think twice about that yellow, try maybe a less bright yellow, play with different colors. We'll be here to give you our thoughts!

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
I know this may sound a little crazy but when I get to the point I'm ready to decide on colors I'm headed to the paint store. Have you seen the color families they put on the paint cards now days? Talk about taking out a lot of the guess work. You can also see some of these at paint company websites.
Another place to check is in the bedding department. If you find a comforter and accessories you like use the same colors. I can just see some people shaking their heads but why go to all the work to find great color combinations when you can borrow them from professionals!?

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
I wanted to just pitch in here with a few options for helping you determine a set of colors that you'll love and that harmonize well to the eye.
One of my own favorite tools is the Color Scheme Chooser from Digital Media Minute there's also the Color Schemer which is kind of fun although I use it much less often.
If you check the Coding and Design section you'll also find loads of resources for free photos, fonts, backgrounds and other ways to help spruce up a site that's bugging you
Good luck!

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
I like the blue. And I really like the font. This may sound ridiculous but the font makes me trust you. (can a font do that?)

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
Actually, yes! I have always really liked Darlene's font as well.
Handwriting style fonts tend to evoke feelings of familiarity in people...particularly in a web environment where we're inundated by type -so it makes sense that you'd feel a sense of 'trust'

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
That makes me feel good about the font. I am going for the whole "personal attention" curve, so I guess the font works well with that idea!
I will be sure to check out the section you linked to Tess. My page does need just a little bit more spice (maybe in the way of a photo towards the top of the page). Thank you.

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
Ok, Tess. Let me just say...did you play around with the colors for the color schemer before you posted the link? Because, I just fixed my site up to use an orange based color for my text. I found a few sites that commented that orange is a tried and true compliment to blue. I guess I am on the right track.

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
One more quick note: when I have a website to design and I want to get creative with color - oftentimes I'll go look online for images of colored paper or fabrics that I like and then take the colors out of that. There are some neat color combinations that don't really come to mind right away or that a color wheel won't recommend because they're not necessarily in the same family.
Try looking at your favorite peices of art or clothing and notice the color combinations there...you may come up with something new and spectacular that way as well.

Re: Color Scheme Opinion
Hello!
Well, I took everyone's ideas into consideration and came up with a website I am finally happy with (for now that is).
Thank you, thank you for your input. Oh, by the way, I look at the yellow page now and my eyes literally hurt. Ouch.
