Also, keep in mind that if designing your website is not something you feel comfortable with and budget is tight, you can also barter with someone for it.

Bartering can come in handy sometimes, it's a win-win situation if it benefits both sides. Just remember that with bartering, as with any business transaction, make sure everyone is on the same page and there's an agreement or contract signed that states clearly what each party is bartering so that there's no problems.

Hi Lindsey,

If you are just starting out, bartering or any other creative way of getting a website built will work.

If you have the time go ahead and teach yourself and build your own, and if you run into something that just won't go the way you want and then contact us here on the forum to help.

Building websites and maintaining them is a great skill to have.

Cheers!!

Hi Inland,

I am using the Network Solutions Business Level Builder to build my site. It's been two months since i started with it...If I had the funds, I would have someone else build it and just update and edit here or there. It's really become quite a hassle especially when you have to learn new software and it's your first site ever.

I am hiring someone to do mine. I am trying to get so many things pulled together here I think trying to learn to build a website in the middle of it would put me over the edge!

I am a VA newbie who recognizes the need for a website! I am trying to build it myself because I have enough time just not enough money! It is frustrating and exciting at the same time. I am using Microsoft Office Live and have purchased a domain name. My hardest problem is template design, code placement (for rss feeds, subscriptions, etc) and find myself wanting to pull my hair out! But with help from others believe that this task will get easier! My question is a website first or clients????

Whichever comes first! I had a client before I had my website, but the website has helped to find more clients.

I did my own site to begin with. I plan on having a site professionally created once I have some more funds built up.
