I have someone doing my website for me. My struggle is the content for the homepage. Right now the draft of the page looks rather plain, nothing to draw your attention.

Any ideas?

The homepage should describe your business and what you have to offer clients.

Best of Luck,

Try looking at other VA's home pages to get ideas of what you would like to see on your own. You can (and should!) change up content to suit your own business, but having an idea of what appeals to you on other sites will help to define your own.

I struggled with this very same question! So I made a blog entry about it:

Short of getting ideas from other sites you should be able to answer the following the questions:

What do I have to offer to solve an issue?
Why should they trust me?
What sets me apart from the competition?

Just remember that often times short is sweet and you only have a few seconds to catch their attention.

What do you do not like the website once it is complete. It has a totally different look than what you expected.

It depends on what arrangement you have with the designer from the beginning. They should be flexible enough to provide you with revisions. It's always a good idea to see a mock up of the site before the designer gets to far in the process.

First of all, don't overload the audience with content and text. Keep it clean. Things to mention:

Services- a general explanation

List of Recommendations or testimonials. If you don't have this yet then simply write a blurb about what makes you the best.

Contact Information: a way to quickly contact you.

Maybe a feed of your blog.

My site is always a work in progress...
