Default Should I put my location on my website?
Hi
I am launching my VA business and was working on my website tonight. Question: Should I give the area (City/State) that I live in?? I did not want potential clients to worry about me being in another state.. since I'm working "virtually" I didnt think it would matter. Any one have thoughts about this? Thanks

Hi Carm,
Although I have not launched yet, I too am working on my website. In my about me blurb I told potential clients where I am from, for me in my own opinion..I would prefer to know and feel that my potential clients should know. If they choose to work with me then they will know round abouts how long it will take for material to get to me, providing they are sending material. However since I am working from a home office..I am choosing to use a P.O. Box. I have chosen this route because I do not want clients to drop in on me and my family. Although in the end the preference is yours. I have chosen this route as it it safety net....If you are just wanting to give a general area, in my opinion again I think that is fine and preferred by most. Having worked in an office setting where we did use P.O. boxes...I know that our clients had appreciated knowing the general area. Hope this helps and made sense(as I am quite tired lol) Take care and best of luck!!!

Hi Maryella
Thanks for the response. I did post my po box along with my city n state. I agree with you that my clients need to know a "general" whereabouts. I feel good about this now and can go ahead and publish my website tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words and great advice. Best wishes in your launch! good nite.

You received good advice so far! One other item I wanted to add in case anyone else stumbles upon this post. Another reason why you would want to include where you are located (city/state) is so potential clients can consider your location as it relates to time zones.

Some clients may be looking for someone that is in the same time zone as they are or perhaps even someone who is not, even though you are providing services virtually. That's just one other reason why you would want to include your location on your website.

If you plan on including an address on your site, I agree, using a PO Box is the best solution.

I, too use a post office box to protect my privacy, which by default gives city/state information. I have been told by potential clients that they prefer to work with US-based companies and/or local companies (meaning city or region) and my PO Box address lets them know where I am located.

I too just set up a PO box to use on my site when its completed. I do not want the world to see where I live, especially the scum of the Internet.

I do not list my address on my site; however, by my list of local clients, my facebook page, and other information I have on the Internet, others will probably figure my address out or at least know what city I live in..
