Default Question about ethics
Hello all,

I'm currently creating content for my website and have come across an ethical problem. I have worked as a PA/Private Assistant to a high profile person who, a few years ago, joined a popular tv program and became a celebrity. He is now a well-respected investor and a household name.

Can I use his name on my website? He is the one who gave me the nickname Miss Moneypenny and I was wondering if I can say that in the 'About me' section?

What do you think?

I think that you should attempt to get his permission first. If he is unreachable, I say go ahead with it, especially since it's part of your name. It's your story just as much as it is his.

Yeah, you're right. It IS my story just as much as his. Thanks for that.

Once my website is up and running I'll try to break through his no doubt solid wall of PAs and secretaries and ask for a short reference. I think that would be a fab example of name dropping, haha.

Thanks again.

Haha christina! I think you might be right. Is 'shark tank' the American equivalent of 'dragon's Den'? I think It might be...

The person I worked for is James Caan ( no, don't all go Googling him!!!) an entrepreneur and investor from London. I was his PA back in 2004.

Satisfied ladies? Wouldn't want to cause you any sleepless night! :-)

Yes- Shark Tank is like Dragons Den.

If I had noted that you were in the UK not the US I might have been spot on with my guess, lol.

I feel better now- Thanks

Well I did Google him...but I would say this - he's an entrepreneur himself so will likely be very supportive of you starting your own business, especially given what he went through to start his own first company (including lack of support). I don't see any reason he would want you to hold back from telling the story of how your nickname and now company name came to be.

I'd agree with April that it would be nice to at least try to get permission - and in the process, let him know what you're up to. His response just might surprise you!
