Question Overwhelmed!
I have been working on my website today and I feel totally overwhelmed. Trying to figure out exactly what to say and how to say it!! UGH

How did everyone come up with their website wording - as far as the introduction???

Hi Melissa,

It is tough to figure out what to say as far as your website content, but I shall tell you what worked for me and hope it helps.

When you're referring to your 'introduction' are you referring to how you are going to introduce yourself personally or how you are wording your introduction or home page? When I was working on my website content, the first thing I did was list all the pages I wanted on my website, e.g., Home Page, About Page, Contact Us, Services, etc. That made it easier to decide what to write on each page. I then listed all the things I wanted to say and started to figure out which page worked best for each item.

Remember, too, that what you write isn't written in stone and you will no doubt continue to tweak your pages and content as time goes by, so you're not stuck with what you start with. It is a work in progress, so don't be afraid to write down everything you want to say and whittle it down as you go.

Good luck!

Kate is absolutely right.

I might also add that when you write your content, ensure you are writing to your reader. Make sure you address how you can help him. Remember, your website is all about your client and not you. When your prospects come to your site, they want to find information about how you can help them fill a specific need. If you don't address that, they will leave very quickly.

Also, it's best to come up with the keywords you want to rank your site for in the search engines BEFORE you write your content. Once you have those keywords then you write your content with your keywords skillfully woven in.

Good luck

Just take the time to surf other successful business sites for ideas [NOTE: I'm not talking plagerism, I'm talking inspiration.] You will see patterns in how information is presented. And don't just look at other VA sites. Check a variety of successful small - medium business sites.

I had a rough idea of what I wanted to say, and with a little help from my friends I have spent a couple of days tweaking here and there and I am now happy with my site.

Keep it simple but make it clear what you can do for your client.

Get someone to proof it for you, it can be surprising what you might have missed. Sometimes what you think might not work in fact can be a great idea!

I would take the word Mom out. (below) in this paragraph on the home page. It doesn't fit. Not all moms are drowning in paperwork and I think you want to appeal to businessowners...if they are moms, that's fine, but it's not necessary to say that.

How often have you met a business owner or mom who is stressed out, drowning in piles of paperwork, unorganized, and overwhelmed?

I really like how your photo looks at the top..very effective and the colors are catchy. I'd say you did a nice job.

Melissa,

If you'd like feedback on your website setup or SEO, please submit it here. I do have a couple of suggestions as to the content. I note a number of typos and my best suggestion would be to cut and paste all of your text and put it into a Word document and run a spell check.

On your Bio Page, you alternate between 'I' and 'We' and the general consensus is that it's best to pick one and go with it. Either discuss your business in the first person as in refer to everything with 'I' or instead make use of 'We' and try not to mix the two.

Please PM me if you'd like additional help, good luck!
