Has anyone used a Ghostwriter? Do you offer Ghostwriting services? I was thinking of hiring a Ghostwriter but I don't know much about it. Can anyone share their experiences with working with a Ghostwriter and/or share what you should look for in a Ghostwriter?

I do quite a bit of ghostwriting for my clients - everything from blog posts to website content, press releases and newsletters. I've also worked (once and only once) with a ghostwriter when I needed some assistance managing a very busy client blog. It turned out that the VA I contracted out to had NO concept of what it means to adopt another person's voice - which is crucial to ghostwriting.

If you hire someone to write for you they have to be able to mimic your writing style, your tone, your cadence - for the sake of continuity...without that it's a frustrating situation. And a ghostwriter has to be able to follow directions (for instance, keeping personal opinion out of a news piece) - this girl just did not want to write about the topics assigned to her and insisted on fluffing her blog posts with loads of weighted political rants. So - what I learned is to be very specific about what it is you're looking for and that if you are going to hire a ghostwriter make sure it's someone who has experience doing just that.

I can't offer you any personal experience with working with a ghostwriter.

The Writers' Union of Canada maintains a list of its members who are willing to do ghost writing and similar writing organizations within your state might offer the same.
