Talking I am so "wordy!"
Anyone else run into this problem when doing the content for their website? I am so darn wordy! I feel it is all important content, but dang, I sure can vocalize with the printed word!

Hey, I kept this nice 'n short!

My website home page is too long... and that is AFTER I cut the content in half! So, yeah, I have the issue, too.

LOL I think we all have a lot to say about our businesses and how we can help others. Maybe it is a trait of the VA?

I see other VA sites that are short and to the point, and I admire this trait, but when it comes to mine I can't seem to control the flow of words.

I'm going to run with my "wordiness" and embrace it. Woohoo!

Glad to see I'm in good company with this "problem."

Jules, you are not wordy, you just have a lot to say. LOL Sometimes I get going on my posts and end up erasing half of what I had typed because it just seems to go on and on. Seems it is a VA trait.

Cheers!!

My site has gone through hundreds of changes over the years. I'm always finding new ways to say things and cut down on what I had before. I wouldn't worry about it too much as you can cut it down as you review it from time to time.

Jules, I feel your pain! I am eternally struggling with my "wordiness". I'd really like to take a writing class some day because I think that if I had a wider vocabulary at my fingertips, I'd be able to be more succinct. Perhaps I'll "treat" myself to that once my business is really up and running. I'm just glad to see that I'm not alone!

Ah-ha! It is a VA trait! I'm so glad I'm not alone.

Hey, another thing is that I am glad that Tess has a "timer" on how long before you can't edit your posts anymore... I would be coming back and adding more content left 'n right.

Haha, you're funny, Jules.

As a copywriter, may I suggest that when you're being too wordy, think about your writing as if you're the reader, not the writer. What do you want your reader to experience? Trust me, most people won't wade through lengthy text. What kind of text do you prefer to see when visiting other sites (like when you're looking for a product or service)?

You're capturing attention with your web pages, not explaining yourself. There's a big difference.

Jules, have you seen some of my posts? lol

I have a really bad habit of "brain dumping" when I write and then edit it to death. My problem is that I usually end up adding thoughts rather than deleting them...lol And there have been several times where I have typed up a really long post only to go back and delete the entire post and write just one or two sentences lol (The EDIT button is my friend too...lol)

Wordy girls unite!

Aw Mary, thank you for your insight. I actually do try to look at it from the reader's experience, but me being an avid reader (websites, books, doesn't matter ) isn't helping; I love detail.

There are some things I can get rid of on my homepage that is more of an "explaining" nature, so I'll be doing that. Of course, I am going to save this in a txt file...just in case!

Count me in crowd of being too "wordy" My posts and my emails can attest to that fact. When writing to clients, I have to edit what I saying way down, especially if I have questions or comments about something in particular. I don't want them to feel overwhelmed by this long email AND too long of an email, they miss a very important piece of information I am sending them. Something I am trying to implement on my website. Short, sweet, but to the point.

Hey Ms. D, within your post is a very important tip - keeping emails to clients on point and to the point so they don't get lost in extraneous information overload.

Also, off to edit parts of my homepage...

My home page was very wordy. Thanks to a VA on this forum, I was able to cut down on some of the content.
