Default Finding subjects for my website.
My website has been up for a few months and I have some posts on it however I can't seem to come up with new content for my articles. Should I give readers updates or shortcuts to computer programs? Or should I tell them about how to help the people in Japan? Or should my article be more about what I can do as a virtual assistant? This is what is stopping me from writing articles. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would suggest giving free tips/info on how you help people in your niche. Then say "for more specifics email me or follow me on Twitter, Facebook, etc. This will create opportunities for future dialogs. People are always looking for free help, esp when it isn't anywhere else easily found. By helping them you are helping yourself, by drawing attention to your business. There is enough information online already about Japan, in my opinion. I would keep it all about your business. You can recycle old articles and put a new spin on it using your own words. HTH

Thanks JoCarole, that's kind of where I was thinking of heading but sometimes I just need other input.

I agree, free tips are great as they entice people in. I keep my blog focussed to small businesses (as there's only so much you can write about transcription!) so include social media, marketing, technology (e.g. iPhones).

It all depends who you're trying to target. I would suggest to try to answer to the most common questions you get, try to provide tips, introduce new tools, interview people. Common problems that they may face and give them quick tips and some solutions to help them out. Try different things and see what works and what doesn't by tracking comments and traffic with you Google analytics.

Yes, everyone is on the right track for the information to offer on your blog. My site as an example is focused on Wordpress, Blogging and topics related to bring traffic to your site and marketing your site.

So if your focus is on general administrative services offer tips and insights on how you as a virtual assistant can help your readers accomplish things quicker and easier.

One thing I do to inspire new blog posts is to follow other people in my industry through my RSS reader (I use Google Reader & Feedly together). You can search google blog search for other blogs covering similar topics, then you can either write an article in response to the blog post or simply write your own blog post on the topic.

As I go through and come across something I think my readers might like, I either book mark it or quickly log into my site, create a draft, give it title, copy the link into the draft for a reference and then I usually spend a couple hours either on Friday or sometimes on the week writing up my topics for the week.

No matter what though, I keep it focused on the clients I'm targeting mixed with a bit of personal touch so they get to know me and will come back to me when then need some assistance.

This is great advice Renee. I just recently learned about RSS readers and love the idea. It's a simple way to gather information and spark new ideas for your own blog.

Renae,
Have you tried www.bloggerlinkup.com ? I just recently signed up with them and have received 4 emails from them. I haven't found anything useful yet (I'm working on my husband's bbq catering website while at the same time trying to get my business going), but you can request information.

Hi,
Donna you may want to look at freelancer.com and you may find someone to write articles for you but you have to use copyscape if you go this route .The rate are very affordable and you can get good writers for as little as $0.50 for a 200/300 words article.Good luck
