I agree with the previous comments. Each client is different and their needs are different. I do not have my rates located on my site either. I prefer dealing with the client which gives me the opportunity to sell my skills, etc.

I would not put prices on a website..you want the person who is looking at your website to end up calling you so that you can find out their needs and see if you can help them. Customer Service is key in this and the first step in grabbing that custoner..the only way you can provide that is by talking with the customer first. Than provide the customer options...like our business has 3 packages in which a customer can choose. That way you don't feel like your pushing on them but giving them the choice of what they need.

I will rarely bother to inquire about someone's services or a product unless I know the price up front, which is why I post my rates on my website. As I like to see prices up front, I offer the same opportunity to my potential clients. That way, when I get an inquiry I know that price isn't an issue and we can focus on finding out if I will be a good fit for their particular needs.

I think it's a personal choice and there is no wrong or right way. It sounds like on the whole, both methods work equally well.

That's a great way of describing it!

Plus, every transcription/typing job is different, and I cover two countries, so if I put my rates up it would be pages and pages of numbers!

I absolutely post my rates. My thought is, they aren't negotiable and potential clients that value administrative functions will be willing to pay my rates. In the end, I don't want potential clients to contact me if they are unable to see the value, so I show them on my website and IMHO it gleans out those that probably wouldn't end up being a client because they're price-directed in their choice.

I personally get frustrated if I am looking for prices on a site and can't find any and usually leave and look elsewhere...but I can also see the other side of it. Personally talking with a PC to feel them out and answer any questions they have on the spot seems like it halts any wasted time and emails back and forth.

As a consumer, if a place doesn't supply their prices on their site, I go elsewhere. I understand that some would rather have the potential client call and they can sell themselves to them, I just don't agree thats a good idea. The very last thing I want to do as a consumer is call a place to get rates. I don't want to be pressured into buying something by someone.

With that in mind, I will be displaying my rates on my site.

I have decided to post my prices so that potential clients won't have to wonder about my prices and I won't need to spend time consulting clients that may not be able to pay for my services. The large outsourcing companies post them too. It would be very time consuming to have to explain prices to everyone by phone.

I don't post my prices on my website because I know that I don't gain clients due to my rates. I get most of my clients from referrals.
