Default Kudos for Firebug
I just wanted to post something letting those of you who may be just learning about building your site, or someone else's - but may not know about Firebug - how awesome of a tool it is!

You can take any website, where they may have a font you like, or a color you want to identify - or just a cool feature like special borders, layout, etc. and you can simply click on that area of their website and see the CSS, HTML, layout, and even scripts.

What's even more cool is you can look to see what keywords your competition is using to optimize their sites. Naturally - you are never going to steal - but you can certainly gain inspiration. And it helped me come up to speed learning CSS much faster because I can see how other's use it to achieve results. It was especially useful in helping me understand inheritance.

In summary - I just highly recommend that if you do anything with developing websites, and you don't know about this yet, that you have this free tool in your toolbox.

It is a great tool- makes life much easier! My fav: being able to live edit on a site I'm working on. This gives me the chance to try different styles out before making the change final.

Thanks very much, Pam. This is an awesome tool. Just installed it as an add-on to Firefox. Many, many cool analytical features not the least of which is "Javascript debugging". Appreciate the heads up.

I use Firebug all the time and it certainly make customizing and converting sites a breeze. Another favorite too is the Rainbow add on for Firefox. Never have to guess at picking colors again.

@Lee - Thanks for that tip! That is going to be a huge help. I tire of constantly going back and forth with my graphics software to use the eyedropper to pick up a color - and even then not positive how accurate.

Oh yes! I discovered Firefox a while ago. It certainly saves me time when designing websites! I didn't know about the Rainbow tool, will check it out, thanks.

Does anyone know of any other worthwhile add ons to Firefox/Firebug for web dev?
