Hi all!

I'm having a bit of a problem trying to install a Wordpress blog for my client. I've done it before myself (via myPHP) but this is the first time of me doing it in Dreamweaver MX (and before you ask it's doing it in 2004 Windows version as that's where my client does his website).

Anyway, I have looked up for how to create a MySQL Database and I *think* I set it up OKay (it was a screen coming up with Connection Name, MySQL server, username, password & database). I entered in the relevant details & entered them in on the config file (the username / password is correct, BTW ) and I set the server to localhost (I think that's the main thing). So, when it came for me to add the database name, i tried both the database AND the connection section and neither of them worked.ut:

If only I could crack this, then everything would be OKay and I could focus on the part I love which is the designing of it!!!

So, if any of you have any tips on how I can solve this problem then please let me know. I spent over a hour trying to fix it and to no avail...! (not to mention spending 45 minutes trying to figure out uploading lots of files into Dreamweaver for my WP files! - and I have to remember how to do it for the new template tomorrow!!)

I'm a bit confused. Are you trying to install WP on your computer so that you can design the theme in Dreamweaver? I find the easiest way to work with WP offline is to install the WAMP suite- pretty straightforward.
I don't use Dreamweaver when working with WP as I prefer to go old school and just use a text editor. Less chance of things not "translating" well.

Hi Julia,

I'm a bit confused as to why you would do it this way since WP can be easily installed from most hosts cpanel (or similar) and then customized. Perhaps you're designing a new template, so that is why.

Nevertheless, there is a Dreamweaver extension that is available: http://www.themedreamer.com/ that might be useful, although I don't know if it works on older versions of Dreamweaver, such as MX. It isn't a free extension, though, but might be worth looking into.

my client's cpanel is actually IN dreamweaver so it's really just creating a database in dreamweaver that I'm having a problem with... I'm editing the theme only JUST slightly - as well as creating a new banner!

I am curious too as I haven't seen a cPanel in Dreamweaver. BTW, can't you log in to your clients cPanel now?
