Default Customizing Wordpress.com blog
I'm setting up a wordpress.com blog for a client (a temporary blog until they get their new blogsite set up) and I'm trying to customize it and at least change the header colors, but it tells me I can't save any changes unless I purchase a custom CSS upgrade. Does anyone know another way I can make changes to the template on there? Thanks in advance!

Are you working with a template you got from a specific designer's site? If the terms listed by the original designer are that any edits to the template come at a price then I'm afraid I don't have any helpful suggestions, short of hacking - but that's bad karma!

If it was my client I would just start with the basic WP theme and customize it based on the client's website design. A little HTML, a little CSS and you're all set.

If you are on Wordpress.com you are limited with what you can do for free. Try creating a header image and putting it in. You can use any image or create one the right size and colors you need.

Cheers!!

Hi Mary,
Wish I could offer some assistance but I've never worked with wp.com before. I only know that it is quite limited as Bernice said.
Good Luck and be sure to post back if/when you find the answer.

Is it self-hosted or a Wordpress.com blog? That will make a difference when editing the theme.

if it's self-hosted: you can upload any theme you like and customise it from there.
if it's a wordpress.com site [i.e. xxxx.wordpress.com]: you are very limited. You'll probably be only allowed to upload a logo but that's it. Some of them let you change their colours though... but I think it's only three...

HIH!
