I have found the foot pedal and a good head set are definite assets.

Any recommendations on a reasonably priced foot pedal? Where do you buy them?

Virtual_Viviante,

I took a project once with no foot pedal. This was a horrible experience! I highly recommend a foot pedal. It leaves your hands free for typing and not toggling back and forth between screens. All that toggling can nearly double your time. Especially if the speaker is inaudible.

Virtual Viviante,
The 'hot keys' are keys on your keyboard that you assign to perform the functions of rewind, fast forward, etc. I recently downloaded Express Scribe and am still figuring out all the functions. Like jeanvis said, the foot pedal makes transcribing much easier than having to use 'hot keys' because you move your hands back and forth much less (making you much quicker).

Hi Kathya,

Sorry, just saw this. I have this foot pedal: http://www.amazon.com/Foot-Pedal-Com.../dp/B00149KX9Y I got my foot pedal with my MT schooling, but it works great even if it isn't as expensive as some of the others (see below).

www.startstop.com also has systems that include a foot pedal (love their software, but too darn expensive unless doing a lot of transcribing).

http://www.transcriptiongear.com/sto...FQ4MDQodmDNgWA is another great store.

HTH a bit,

Express Scribe is great...but if you do any decent amount of transcription you have to get a foot pedal or you'll go mad!

I, too, would love to purchase Start/Stop, the one they have for transcribing videos. Although ES has that ability now, Start/Stop's version offers more features (as they should since it's not free!). And since transcribing is pretty much all I do, I'm dreaming of getting this one day!
