Default transcription equipment
Hi, everyone. I am looking for a site that sales used transcription equipment at reasonable rates. Also which brand is widely used these days. I plan on using Express Scribe in my business. Also is micro or mini best or are they still using standard and micro cassettes.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

I'm thinking of offering transcription services, and I've downloaded and worked with Express Scribe a bit - and I like it a lot! I haven't really looked into equipment because I may only offer to do it digitally.

For what its worth - I have a full-time job working for a doctor. I don't do his transcription, but the office has switched over from micro cassettes to a digital system. My hunch is more business are switching over, although I'm sure there are still plenty using cassettes. Hopefully someone else can give you more information.

Good luck!

Thanks Gladys for your input. But, don't you still need foot pedal and headset.

I have Express Scribe and just use the headset. As you may already know, you can set up key functions for speed up, slow down, and specific recurring words. That way you can avoid having to use the foot pedal.

As Alice said, I'm using the function keys right now instead of the foot pedal since I'm practicing with the program. In Express Scribe, go to the Options tab, and click on Pedals and Hot Keys. It will show how they are set up. Depending on how much transcription I end up doing, I may get a foot pedal later, but for now, it works fine.

For a headset - I'm using the ear buds that came with my iPhone! Again, for what I'm doing right now, they are fine.

Sorry I'm not more help - hopefully someone else has good recommendations.

Thanks for all the assistant. I still need a machine, as not everyone has gone digital. I want to able, if the need arrives to do all kinds of transcription work. I have found a few site on the web that I am currently investigating. I have not used Express program yet, thanks for the heads up on the hot keys. Wish me luck.
