Default Transcription
Hello! I am currently an at home medical transcriptionist. My client still uses microcassettes, which I drive 44 miles a day to pick up and transcribe, and then return the tapes and printed notes the next day. I am planning on venturing into VA this Summer. With gas prices and time contraints, driving to and from is taking a toll and is not something I am willing to continue. Any ideas on how I should pitch this to my client? I would like to keep them as a client, since I am just getting started. However, they are very old fashioned. I have been researching, but am not exactly sure how telecommuting transcription works. I know they will probably not want to spend the $ to get digital recorders/equipment. I have seen it is possible for them to dictate over the phone. How exactly does that work, and what would I need to have on my end to accomplish this? Thanks!!

Have you thought about using an express mail service. Also what about enlarging your turn around time too two days instead of next day. Unless they are paying big $$, you may be getting the short end of this deal.

Hi Amanda,

Do you have a courier service - even a motor bike service that could pick up and return the work for you? This would allow you to occupy your time on new clients and marketing. Just a thought.

cheers
