Default Starting Again
I've been mulling this over for quite some time now. What do I do best? I do transcription and typing. So, where to begin with starting to work for myself? I've got Express Scribe already; it works great. I know absolutely nothing about marketing, SEO, etc. Any thoughts and/or directions would be appreciated. Also, my brain is mush when it comes to a business name that doesn't make me sound like a total moron.

What I can do:
Transcription - medical, general, insurance
Proofreading
Internet Research
Localization (localisation for my fellow UK and Aus friends) - I grew up in Australia, been in American for 30 years now.

Thanks!

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,
It sounds like you need to get organized and decide if you really want to be running your own business. If you do, find that motivation to keep you going through the startup process! Start by taking advantage of the many resources and threads full of information here. Check out the niche section for transcriptionists to share ideas with those who are already operating in the industry.

Start reading through the many marketing sections to pick up tips and ideas for how to market your practice once you've come up with a name.

You can also use the tips in the Branding section to start working out possible business names and taglines.

One of the greatest things about being a business owner is that putting all of that hard work into *making it happen* means eventually reaping the rewards. Best of luck to you in reaching your goals!

Hi Cheryl

I agree with Tess, there is so much information here to help guide you to where you want to be. It is great to be creating your business. When I created my company name, logo, tag line and colours I was very proud, not to say things might change in the future.
