Great speed, Cath! However, one space after a period is correct. (Two was back in the typewriter days with mono-spaced fonts.)

I'm going to try this one but a fun one where you type against others on the internet is www.typeracer.com. There is actually a little area on top and everyone has a car, the faster you type, the faster the car goes, make a mistake and you stop.

Perhaps it's the American way of doing it, I know in English it's certainly still two spaces.....

Wanted to put a smiley after that to show I'm making an observation not being argumentative but not sure which one to use!!!!!

Oh, was I punished for my pride......that same evening I got a job doing 13 pages of Spanish which had to be finished the next day. It didn't take me long to type, but checking was a disaster.

No more proud "look at me typing fast" messages from me.

The original link isn't working for me either. However, I checked out the place Kathy posted (typeracer.com) and turns out I have 98.1% accuracy, 55 WPM and I came in second place in the race The 1st place person typed 87 WPM, there is no way I can compete with that!

Typing tests bring me back to the day of typing class in High School and Medical Assisting school. As an aside - my typing teacher used to cover our hands with paper so we would learn to type without looking at the keyboard. I always cheated and tried to peek under the paper.

Now I don't have to look at the keyboard, thank goodness. I'd like to think I improved since then.

Darlene,

This is so funny. I had my keyboard covered too!!!! I took a real test two months ago at a job interview and scored pretty much what you did. I took the test reluctantly. I've been an admin for 20 years. Heck, as an executive assistant, I've typed only two letters in 5 years! (no kidding) and no one cared how fast I could type them.

Email killed most letter writing! But I guess some hiring managers still use them. I DISLIKE them so.

I'm a little slow on the uptake so while I know one space after a period is the "new" and "generally" accepted practice, I think two spaces after a period makes it clearer when one sentence ends and another begins.

That was fun. I don't think I've ever done a typing test. I got 85 wpm with 99.6% accuracy.
