Mac Users Express Scribe Pro
Hello Everyone,
Just setting up my home office and have all the tools of the trade now.
Express Scribe Pro v 5.420 / Pedal / Headset. I work on a
MacBook Pro v 10.6.8.

Question: How do I upload an audio file from a web site browser on to my desktop ?

Thanks,
Bianca

Is it from a site like YouSendIt? The file has to be an audio file that is compatible with express Scribe Pro, which is what I use too. An mp3 or wav file and others will work. They will open up in iTunes (I use a Mac) so I don't know how it opens in a pc so can't be of much help. But it has to be sent as an audio file so you can upload it to Express scribe.

Thanks for replying wpanddeisgn. I use a Mac also. The audio file I was trying to upload is actually the practice ones Express Scribe has on their web site. When I click on download it opens up in a new window and that's where I get stuck. I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing. I understand audio files will open in iTunes and from there I can play it, right?

Check your browser settings.

I'm not familiar with the Apple system but I know when I first started using Firefox there was a setting somewhere that said open in a new window rather than save the file.... sorry can't be more specific but I would guess it's in your browser settings rather than an ES issue...

When someone sends you an audio file, it will usually be from YouSendIt or something similar. When you hit on the download button, it will open in iTunes and from there you can click and drag the file to your Express Scribe. Or you may have to put in on the desktop first and then drag it to Express Scribe. I can't exactly remember what happens when a file opens in a browser window - I don't think it will work. You may try using the command key and clicking on it and I think it will say "open with" and you may be able to go from there. I think I had problems similar one time and I had the person send it through YouSendIt. When it opens in the browser window I don't think you can put it in Express Scribe. It has to be an mp3 or wav file or something similar that iTunes can open. Hope I'm not too confusing here.
