How are client files uploaded to your computer?
Hello everyone, I'm just building my business and have experience doing transcription, but in an office setting. I am wondering what security measures need to be taken, software installed, in order for my clients to upload their files to me. Is it all through a business email? I have Express Scribe and I use hotkeys for my functions, and I'm still building my website...any suggestions? Thank you!

By the way, I have browsed a few of your websites and I am so impressed and motivated. You ladies are great!

Dropbox is the best option in my mind.

I have never looked into Dropbox, I'll have to check that out! Thanks for the post Maryann.

I use Dropbox, FilesAnywhere and YouSendIt, although some clients prefer to email me smaller files (letters etc.). I have the three mainly as a back-up in case one goes down (this has happened in the past!) plus some clients can't use YouSendIt on their PC so utilise one of the other options. HTH

I use a combo of email for smaller files, Box.net and Google Docs for file sharing and YouSendIt for larger files.

I like your company name. I thought of Virtually Yours, but someone already had that.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I did more research yesterday, after I posted and found an old thread with lots of great info.

I have several options for clients. On my website I offer upload through either my server or Send This File. I also accept audio files sent as e-mail attachments and that's how I receive about 99% of my work.

one more you can also use sendspace (dot) com and have it password protected you can also select that the file be only visible to those with the link, it is a free service for you and your client the files are visible on your phone android ipad, iphone and the files are deleted after 3 or 4 weeks I think.
