Default Headset Headache
Does anyone have a problem with their headset like me?
It is always in my way, I don't know what to do with it when I am not using it.
This is the thing, I want it close enough if I need to make a call or if my Skype phone should ring (it never does though), but just in case I am hoping that some far away client just may find my Web site and then I can just grab my headset and start talking

But for right now if I keep it close by it just gets all tangled up. So then I move it to my closet door and hang it up on the door knob which I don't like doing cause then when I need it I actually have to get up from my seat to get it ().

Or is this just me....anybody else find headsets annoying?

Thanks

Jo-Carole

I use a headset daily in my transcription business, and YES they are annoying. They get tangled in the arm of my chair, I accidentally yank them out when I turn too quickly...the list goes on. I installed a hook on the wall near my desk to hang the headset on when not in use. That way it is nearby and isn't getting tangled just heaped on my desk. Perhaps something like that would work for you as well.

Best of luck!
Lisa

I have used a headset in business for years... I had this problem at one job because the cord for it was like 10 feet long... it was ridiculous... I now have a wireless one and I like it.

I am constantly moving my headsets off my desk. Its always in the way, and never handy when I need it. I use my speaker phone a lot.

I would love to have a wireless headset, but at the moment it's just not in the budget. I am planning for one by the end of the year though.

Thanks everyone, it makes me feel better that I am not the only one with this problem!
I was thinking about a hook this morning as I was staring at my book shelves which are to the left of my computer. I thought a hook would work from underneath a shelf. It wouldnt interfere with anything. A wireless headset does sound interesting, I didnt even know there was one. That is something I will have to look in later on down the road. I dont need it right now. Hopefully that will change soon

Kathy, a speaker phone sounds interesting. Is that a desk microphone?

Actually, I use Vonage, and it's a real live AT&T phone. I don't know anything about Skype, how it works and what to do with it.

Ok, I know Vonage, I used Skype, I just got it, I was thinking about a desk microphone that some people use for podcasting...

Its an actual phone or a soft phone? Does it plug into your computer?

I have an adapter that plugs into the internet router, then the actual phone plugs into the adapter. I got the phone with a cordless handset for about $70 at Wal-mart. Caller ID, Answering machine, speed dial. I like it. I've only ever used Vonage for my business, and only had an issue once when my modem fried and had to wait out the weekend for a new one from the ISP. Got to stay at a hotel on the company for a few days to work. Such is life.

I use headsets all the time. Either during transcription, taking business calls, even chatting with family and friends as I run through the laundry or house cleaning hands-free. My headset is practically another extension of my body!

When they aren't in use (I have three by the way), I usually set them near the laptop, one of the cordless phones, and my PC.
