Announcement VA Round Table is Coming Back - Ask Your Questions - Virtual Assistant Forums

Hello,

I got such a positive response to the first VA Round table here on the forum, via email and on Twitter, that I have decided to bring the VA Round Table format back. The second VA Round Table (which will include Angie Green, Lilly E. Chambers and Lee Drozak) will be recorded soon and will tentatively air on July 22nd.

After the first episode aired and I said that I would be doing VA Round Tables in the future, Tahneesha (a forum member) suggested that I ask virtual assistants and listeners to submit their questions for possible inclusion and discussion in future round tables. I kept that in the back of my mind, because I thought it was a fabulous idea (thanks Tahneesha)! And so, that is what this thread is really about. Here is your chance to ask your question about Virtual Assistance, business, being a work at home mom or dad, technology, or anything else that may be heavily weighing on your mind.

All you have to do is post your question to this thread. As simple as that!

Thanks Darlene for posting this thread. I see that you have another group of top-notch Virtual Assistants for this AVP Round table.

Here is my first question. (Yes, there may be more than just one. LOL)

This month's VAF blogging challenge involves writing about an elevator speech. So I was wondering if the Round table members have perfected their speeches/pitches? And if so, how long did it take to get over any hesitation or ramblings?

Okay, I have one more question. I would like to know where do the Round Table members focus their marketing efforts at now as opposed to when they started? At this point in their Virtual Assistant career, has their efforts changed or stayed the same? I am assuming Social Media plays a BIG part in it now too.

I would like to ask, Lily, a question. As a paralegal VA what was your most challenging client? How did you over come the challenge? and Are they still a client today?

i wish I could answer that! Although I have a 5-year background running legal offices (and working as a paralegal/girl Friday) and am fairly well-known in the community, I have not yet approached the local attorneys for business. I determined that this was the target market I want AFTER Goddess comes off of hiatus this fall (or possible early spring, at this point).

My primary work at this point is as a bookkeeper and my current clients are a combination of non-profits, small business owners, and realtors. I intend to change my focus to attorneys since they are already used to outsourcing a large portion of their work and I have the experience in law offices to understand their needs. I will also be learning the 'ins and outs' of being a VBA and hope to add that to my attorney offerings by next summer.

I have created an entire new set of marketing materials focused on legal office needs and will be tweaking my website to add an additional tab for attorneys, as well.

I like the question about the paralegal VA, since I am about to jump into that myself. I am working on a paralegal certificate, but have ZERO law office experience. I thought freelancing would be a good way to go once I got the certificate, but don't know if anyone would take me seriously. I have a strong background in international trade, an hope something like that would be an advantage.
